• For years, this was *the* go-to plugin for Google Analytics information. In many ways the plugin was more accessible than the Analytics page itself, offering a range of information on everything to page views to bounce rate, all sortable by day, week, and month. It was a wealth of information right there on my desktop.

Then, suddenly, it wasn’t. Instead, it appears new ownership has taken over, and they’ve destroyed just about everything the old plugin did well, despite its claim that the plugin is “better than ever.” Getting simple data requires connecting to a new site, and the plugin pesters with dashboard notifications. In short, what was once a valuable free resource is now designed to be a cash cow, with limited features that can only be unlocked by upgrading to a “pro version.” And that pro version isn’t as good as the original.

I get that companies need to make money. It’s just too bad that, in this case, the money comes by essentially baiting and switching to a completely different plugin.
