I am hoping there is a way to set the image resizing of accelerator to work on the image proportions rather than the container. The container is a square (i’m using email to post), so the image is cropped to a square. When I turn off accelerator, the image displays the correct proportions.

The image CDN serves images based on the width and height of an uploaded file, or the containing element:

    Theme is GeneratePress

    Hi there

We’ll need to see an example to advise on this. Would you be able to share a link to a post with an affected image?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.

    Thanks!

    Here is the site. https://miscellaneum.com/
It is just 4 posts currently until I can figure out image sizes. I’d love to be able to upload largish images and have the optimal proportional size distributed to the user.

(*future forum users won’t find this link helpful, but hopefully will help resolve the issue)
    Thanks!

Hi @edented, thanks for sharing the link.

I’d love to be able to upload largish images and have the optimal proportional size distributed to the user.

Have you ruled out a theme “conflict” while trying to achieve this? You can temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Sixteen and see if you manage to do this. You’re welcome to use the Theme Switcha plugin to do that:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-switcha/

This plugin lets you change themes without it affecting the way users see your site.

If you can do that on Twenty Sixteen, then your current theme is limiting that option.

On the other hand, if you still can’t do that, you may want to have a look at these filters to test.

Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on.

I switched the theme to 2016 and sent another test and disabled the GP Premium plugin, as well as the classic editor plugin.
The results of a vertical image still come back square.

    image in media library is:
    File size: 395 KB
    Dimensions: 1182 by 1800 pixels

When I look at the image displayed, it is 1126 × 1126 at 172kb

(clicking the image does show the full proportions, but I never want any of my images cropped)

Looking through the photon filters linked above, i’m hoping to get “?fit=” to work with the image, but I thought that was what accelerator is supposed to be doing.

    Thanks again

Thanks again for the additional information! Just to clarify, does this issue occur if you create a new post through the WP Admin editor too? Or does it only occur when you use Post by Email? If you can provide us with the exact steps you follow that result in the problem, that may help us narrow down the root cause of the issue.

Please let us know and we’ll go from there!

It seems to be fine when i post through the admin editor, so it must have something to do with the post by email.
Is there some tag that i should be putting. in to the email? Email is sending as rich text.

    Thanks

    Hello,

As we understand, the issue happens with two conditions:

    – Post is created with Post by Email feature.
    Accelerator feature is active

We’re checking the issue but it seems that you’re switching to use https://mla8ju0pqxyc.i.optimole.com/? We’re seeing all of your images are starting with this site address.

If you still want to troubleshoot this issue, please try to create another post with Post by Email and let us know its link. We will check our log to see if there is any issue with your email.
