    My cache contents looks like this:

    Why is WP-Super-Cache (0KB) while Wp-Cache seems to be working and has content?

    WP Cache files are generated when your visitor has a cookie for your website. In the past that usually meant they were logged in users. Unfortunately nowadays that might also mean they clicked the “Accept” button on your cookie banner. That usually sets a cookie in the browser. That doesn’t explain why there are no WP-Super-Cache files. Maybe there’s a plugin or code on your site that sets a cookie for every visitor?

    I would enable the debug log in the plugin and visit your site in a logged out browser and see if any cookies are detected. That will help you track down what the problem is.

    Okay so I did that and still don’t what is going on. The cache contents still show same as posted initially. Here is debug log sample. Can you see any problems?

    Hi @dickraney

    Thanks for your patience with this one. I can’t immediately see anything obvious from that log file. It looks like it’s saying cookies are empty.

    Did you clear the cache and try visiting? Do you have “enable cache for logged in visitors” enabled.

    I’m wondering if there’s already a WP Cache file there, it won’t re-make a WP Super Cache file for example and you may have initially created the cache files while logged in

    I did clear cache and visit.

    My file manager shows a lot of files at
    httpsdocs > wp-content > cache > supercache > mydomainname
    but they all look like this wp-cache-94b5856c46d65877e33c12a54983b3b0.php
    they don’t say super-cache

    Hi @dickraney,

    Thanks for bearing with us and being willing to experiment.

    I can’t see anything in your settings that should prevent supercache files from being created.

    As @mikemayhem3030 indicated, your debug log sample shows WP Super Cache serving a pre-built wp-cache file. When a wp-cache file already exists, it won’t re-cache a supercache version. It doesn’t tell us why it didn’t create a super-cache file when caching the page.

    I’m sorry to be a bother, but would you mind:

    1. Turn debug logging on again,
    2. Clearing your cache again,
    3. Loading a page on your site as an unauthenticated visitor (e.g.: using a private / incognito window), and finally
    4. Post the logs from that pageload?

    That should show us a sample of WP Super Cache caching your file anew. That will hopefully give us insight into why you aren’t getting any supercache files.

    Thanks for running the test for me! Looking at your logs, I can see a bunch of activity in wp-admin which we can disregard. The first non-wp-admin load in your logs is:

    That is rendering a cached file. That means that your cache is either not clearing correctly, or is being regenerated very quickly after you clear it.

    Can you please delete your cache once more, and check if there are any files under wp-content/cache/supercache/ on your site. If so, check their permissions to make sure that WordPress can delete them.

    It may also be worth deleting the contents of the wp-content/cache/supercache/ directory manually (via your web hosting dashboard or FTP program) to force these “stuck” files out.

    I deleted the cache again and went into hosting control panel file manager. The only thing under wp-content/cache/supercache/ was a directory mydomain.com which was empty. I went ahead and deleted that directory.

    Then, I visited website in new incognito window. Page loaded quickly and in source code I see

    When I view the folder in my file manager, I see the domain directory has been recreated and there are 2 files in it.

    And the updated cache contents look like this:

    Circling back to what @donncha mentioned above, if you’re still not seeing any Super Cache files

    Maybe there’s a plugin or code on your site that sets a cookie for every visitor?
