Cache files and logs being deleted

    I’m running WordPress 6.5.3 and Divi theme. WP Super Cache is deleting cache files every eight minutes or so. It seems to delete everything including logs, so I can’t figure out what’s causing it. It happens regardless of WPSC settings (preload, etc.).

    I saw previous topics about Yoast SEO causing a similar problem before. I’m running AISEO but this happens when disabled. I ran in Health Check mode and had the same issues, too.

    I’m on DreamHost, and I’ve tried both their panel install of WPSC and doing it myself.

    Happy to provide whatever additional info is helpful.

    As a starting point, can you please check a couple of things:

    2. What are your settings under the Expiry Time & Garbage Collection section? As pictured here: https://d.pr/i/ZkuMvr

    Hi, Emily. Thank you for the reply.

    1. No, I was not publishing or editing any posts/pages at the time. I am curious if a plugin or if Divi was causing frequent publishing behind the scenese, but I’m not sure. The only possibility I can think of is refreshing pages on the front end while logged in. But I was mainly using incognito windows, not logged in, to check, and I could watch the files get deleted in an SFTP client.
    2. I tried several combinations of garbage collection settings. I set the expiry time to like 10 days, and tried setting garbage collection to 0 to disable or tried 86000 seconds.

    I have switched to W3 Total Cache at least for the time being, and I’m not experiencing similar problems.

    I don’t know if I will be able to investigate this further.

    Thanks for doing that initial testing, @ahunte1 ! I’m going to loop in our Boost developers on this one to see if they have any ideas.

    Hi again,

    Very sorry for the delay in getting back to you here! I know you’ve already switched to a different solution, but if you want to continue trying to troubleshoot WP Super Cache, here’s what we would recommend:

    1. Try to disable other plug-ins other than WP Super Cache one by one and see if any of those have an effect on the logs being deleted. There could be some plugin conflict here.
    2. There’s also a plugin called WP Crontrol to see what cron events are registered – that could help reveal what events are running with that frequency.

    Let us know if you take those steps and what you find out!

    Thank you for the link to the WP Control plugin! I’m marking this resolved as I’m using a different plugin now.
