    Hi guys, you’ve done a lot of homework in the last WP5.5 version of Gutenberg. It’s much less fiddly, it’s easier to navigate and move stuff around.

    UPDATE July 2024 – it’s ridiculous that I can’t add attributes like “sponsored” to a hyperlink in the standard paragraph editor, when creating a hyperlink. I could do that with the very old basic editor, it’s a very useful and frequently used functionality by bloggers, yet you decided to remove it? Why do I get the feeling you are stripping down every functionality from Gutenberg, just to make it slim? Slim, yes, useful, definitely not.

    UPDATE April 2024 – the gallery block doesn’t have any lightbox at this day and age? It makes it useless. Who would ever want a gallery that doesn’t show a lightbox and the users have to click the browser back button each time? Oh, yes, the WordPress team on their websites, then no one else in the world.

    I like the technology, it’s super fast.
    I don’t understand the lackluster implementation, lack of basic features or settings, or hiding simple settings into tabs, making us click more than it’s needed. Like the paragraph block – there’s plenty of room to show all the settings in the sidebar, why hiding them into another tab, then leaving a note saying where to look for them?

    That’s why everyone hates Gutenberg, but loves Gutenberg-based third party plugins – because they actually do what we need them to do, using your technology.

    Hey Mel,

    sure – I’m surprised that a scrolling lightbox is not default on the standard Gutenberg Gallery. Right now, when I click on a gallery thumb, lightbox opens a bigger version of the image and that’s it – a dead end. no left-right arrow, keyboard left&right arrows don’t do anything.

    I think it would make sense to have a full – scrolling lightbox on all galleries, where once a bigger image version is opened, the user can scroll between all the images in the lightbox.

    A Table of contents widget would be really handy too.

    And a big game changer would be the ability to display a grid of certain post types: post grid would be the main one, but why not make it work with all custom post types. Then you’ll be almost as good as more advanced page builders and could certainly fill in a much wider market (use case) share.

    Totally agree, I’d love to see a lightbox integration by default on image and gallery blocks. Looks like there was a GitHub issue at some point, but was closed: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/1453 Maybe that can be resurrected.

    A ToC block would also be great. I’ve seen a few plugins that do this already.
