Hi there, we have been having some trouble getting our 2 posts per week to auto-post to our Facebook Page. We have disconnected our Facebook page from Business Manager, since that seemed to be a jetpack/ FB conflict. And even though the sharing is set to automatic in our .org site and looks like it will post as we write the drafts since the page box is checked, it does not. We have been manually going into the .com side of the site to click “share” from the post, after it’s been published so that our facebook page gets our post updates. We only have this one connection with Jetpack, and only share things 4-10 times a month ( So we’re well below our “sharing quota” on Jetpacks Free plan). After a post is published, the FB box becomes grayed, and unchecked, and another jetpack credit has been used.. but nothing shared. Any thoughts on what else we can try to fix here? Since the page is clearly connected, clearly selected on draft posts before publishing and we’re under the publishing limit? Thanks for the help.

Hello again. Ok, so this is what we did. On the post that was scheduled to go live this morning, we pulled it back to draft, toggled on and off the facebook button ( within the post, not the whole blog), and then clicked publish ( not scheduled). Published to Blog, and generated a message “your post has been shared to FB).. it did not post to FB.

Then to test, we copy and pasted the entire post into a blank draft, didn’t schedule, made sure the FB box was checked, and clicked publish. It posted to FB just fine.

We currently have about 18 posts scheduled. Since toggling the Jetpack FB box on and off didn’t seem to work on the test, would you recommend just copying/ pasting all those posts into new fresh posts and rescheduling? ( I haven’t had a successful test with a scheduled post yet, so don’t want to tackle that work, if it won’t help) Thoughts?

Thank you for your continued help.

Maybe you could start with making one fresh post and scheduling that to see if it is going to work. Now that we know a fresh (unscheduled) post will work, the next step would be trying a fresh scheduled post. That way you don’t have to do all 18 right off the bat.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi there @rochellemariah,

Do you have any updates for us? We usually close unreplied threads older than 7 days, but it sounds like you’re still working on that. Can you let us know how it’s going? Thanks!

Hi there- no luck on any scheduled posts ( with connection and fb box checked) going to FB automatically. At this point, I’m just doing it all manually. Only posts that are actually auto posting are the ones that where I click publish in the moment. None of the posts I’ve copied/pasted into new drafts- and rescheduled -have worked. Not sure that helps with anything. Thanks for the check-in.

    Hey again @rochellemariah,

None of the posts I’ve copied/pasted into new drafts- and rescheduled -have worked.

I wonder if something in your workflow is causing an issue. Have you tried to create a post from scratch (without duplicating the existing one in any way) and then schedule it for publication? How does it go in this case?

    Thank you!

Hi there, thanks for this follow up, again. We create from scratch and schedule new posts all the time, in addition to the drafts already in the queue on our site. No post, that is scheduled, with the FB box checked on Jetpack, is sending to the FB page. We’ve only had success with publishing it in the moment for the FB connection to work. The sharing to FB of scheduled posts we’re still just doing manually.

    Hi Rochelle,

I dug around a bit and grabbed a random post from your site, and then ran the URL through Facebook’s sharing debugger:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.polkadotsandpixiedust.com%2Fkona-cafe-restaurant-review%2F

Which looks good! (The warning “The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id” hasn’t been relevant in years.)

Your Facebook connection is looking good to me on our end too. I know you’ve already tried deleting the connection and re-establishing it, but would you try it again?

If this doesn’t work then there may be something else installed on the site that’s causing problems. (note: I suspect the SG-Cache plugin.) The quickest way to figure out if something is interfering is to test for a theme or plugin conflict. I know it’s less than ideal, but could you please try the following:

Temporarily deactivate all the site’s plugins except for Jetpack and clear your browser’s cache. Then try publishing to Facebook again. If it works, then we’ll know that another plugin is conflicting here. You can re-enable your plugins one by one, trying using publicize feature in between, until you find the one causing the conflict. You can leave it disabled or reach out to the plugin developer for a fix.

If disabling plugins doesn’t help, it may be the theme. Temporarily switch your theme to a WordPress default theme like Twenty-Twenty. Then try using publicize feature again. If it works, then you know it’s a problem with the theme, and you can reach out to the theme developer for a fix.

Let us know what you find!

    Best,

    Cena

Hi there, thanks for the follow up. We have re-deleted and re-installed the jetpack plugin. We have a sceduled post set to post to FB in the morning, and can update you then to see if anything has changed. We have already done the plugin test through the Health and Troubleshooting recommendation earlier in the conversation. With all plugins off, except Jetpack, and a scheduled post going to FB, it still failed to send the scheduled post. This issue is recent as of January, with no other changes on the site. I did notice in the reinstall that i did have to reconnect not only the main jetpack plugin, but also jetpack social ( which was previously built in to the main plugin). It also seemed to start around the time that jetpack introduced the paid tier system, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. As noted earlier, we only post 8-10 posts a month, so the jetpack shares limit is fine for us. That said, even when the post doesn’t send to FB, jetpack is still using a “share credit” to not share it.

    Hi @rochellemariah ,

I did see the recent post that was published in your Facebook account is https://www.facebook.com/PolkaDotPixieCo/posts/pfbid0S8XdUjGzYLStPFnVBsZEXtN7ZLHtmYshg2KU45rs1TAHXnK6XJ1e8vYX4s5aUaGYl

Is that the post you have scheduled and expected to see? Did this get shared automatically?

    Thread Starter rochellemariah

    (@rochellemariah)

Hi there, no, that was shared manually after the post posted on our website. Since we still need to be sharing to facebook, we’ve been manually sharing every post to the FB connection after it posts, since it no longer posts automatically through Jetpack.

We have a post this morning, scheduled at 9am, with the Jetpack FB box checked. We’ll see if it auto posts….. and then of course, if not we’ll share it manually.

Hey @rochellemariah – The Jetpack connection for the site is good so there shouldn’t be an issue. Could you please provide us permission to share a post to Facebook from our side so that we can check where the issue is happening?

    Thread Starter rochellemariah

    (@rochellemariah)

Sure, you’re welcome to try. For clarity, it’s only scheduled posts that aren’t sharing to FB. Posts just published, and not scheduled, share to FB fine.

Hey @rochellemariah – I found there was an issue with Jetpack Sync which we have fixed now and as per your permission, when I scheduled sharing of posts to your Facebook account, it went well, and you can check two posts got shared correctly on your Facebook account.

    • The first post is related to “The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin” and the second one is related to the “How to survive Spring Break Crowds at Walt Disney World” post.

Now it is confirmed that the scheduled sharing of the post to Facebook on the existing post from the site is working correctly, but to check if the post gets shared correctly or not when the post itself gets published after the scheduled time, could you please add a new post to your site » set the scheduled time » make sure sharing on Facebook enabled for post and then check if the post gets published to Facebook once it is published to your site? Looking forward to your reply!

Hello, thanks for the follow up. I can see that your additonal shares to facebook – swan and dolphin and spring break- did post. So, thank you.

However, our 9am scheduled post from this morning still did not post to Facebook. You can see it on our website here: https://www.polkadotsandpixiedust.com/

Let me know if you have any other ideas as to why this is isn’t working.
