Sorry – no link to show because the issue is in the email – not the webpage.

About a month ago after working flawlessly for 5 years – the jetpack newsletter feature has started adding a lot of code to each link – the url at the front is right – but then it adds all this extra…..

    action=user_content_redirect&uuid=c91e8b7d4dad4d098767e4ee642f9c09e3a9b6930512f12516792c1018c8fd94&blog_id=150594361&post_id=6675&user_id=47488565&subs_id=62239950&signature=c676fc829f253562504d0def38dafcf1&email_name=new-post&user_email=******@gmail.com&encoded_url=aHR0cHM6Ly9icmFkZm9yZHdlc3QuY2h1cmNoL3N0LW1hcnRpbnMv

with my private email in there. I’ve spent a long time fiddling with the widgets and the settings but no joy. Nor can I find anything in forums. Can anyone help? The website remains fine – just the links in the body of the email itself don’t work.

    TIA

  • This is also happening on my site and the site of a friend that I help maintain.

I manage 60 plus WP sites. Not all use the Newsletter or old Subscribe feature. Same problem here but some sites’ email links work and others don’t. All using the same version of WP, latest. Next time I will try disabling all plugins except the main Jetpack and see if that helps.

I deactivated all plugins except Jetpack since that was needed to send the email newsletter and akismet. Same problem. Links in emails do not work. It just goes to the website address followed by:

    ?action=user_content_redirect&uuid=b45edc11c19900577351b2a9f9422d1957bf07a60d0959515c32850a06dbf8ad&blog_id=111022934&post_id=24808&user_id=107571228&subs_id=211583391&signature=c5c249f618dc924bda502bf3853e30a6&email_name=new-post&user_email=mk@mydomain.com&encoded_url=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubWlsaXRhcnl0aW1lcy5jb20vZmxhc2hwb2ludHMvZXh0cmVtaXNtLWRpc2luZm9ybWF0aW9uLzIwMjQvMDEvMDUvdHJvb3BzLWRvLW5vdC1oYXZlLWFuLWV4dHJlbWlzbS1wcm9ibGVtLWJ1dC12ZXRlcmFucy1kby1zdHVkeS1maW5kcy8

When I add that code to your domain name, the link works OK. Do you have an example of a failing link?

    Hi @paontheweb @chrischorlton @MiaMcP

This should be resolved now. The devs have deployed a fix which should take care of this for you.

Just curious if others are seeing this as still happening today?

Same problem here. In my own blog and in my client’s blog the newsletter Read more -links stopped working a while ago. I tried also to click the old newsletter links (that have been working before) and they also have a long string of code in the link address and clicking the link does not open the page. We are using the latest version of Jetpack (13.0).

This just started happening to my site with the Jetpack update to 13.0 … I have been using subscriptions for years and have over 1700 subscribers. Now, when they receive an email, the links back to the website do not work :(. I have cleared caches and re-linked jetpack connection and no help. I have contacted siteground host and they said this is all jetpack’s issue. I cannot find any way to contact since we have a free jetpack account. Do I need to find another plugin to transfer subscribers to for email or am I expected to pay for a jetpack subscription now. I’ve read subscriptions are going away. Is this now true. please help as this is a feature we use to make a LOT of sales each week.

    Hi folks

If anyone is still experiencing this issue, could you please provide some specific examples of broken links, so we can investigate further?

Still experiencing to a lesser degree – Here is the link generated by Jetpack when sending the email from the website (I did have one word with an https:// link attached through html)… http://davenportsdailydelights.com/?action=user_content_redirect&uuid=340eadb51da9076fb324b076de8d0a30b6f6cebcb63f15320240d4ebc3bdff5f&blog_id=148860181&post_id=43239&user_id=205508031&subs_id=373061737&signature=9743e3f1c4b77946fff1eb6d9d320bc0&email_name=new-post&user_email=wendi@collectiveitsolutions.net&encoded_url=aHR0cHM6Ly9kYXZlbnBvcnRzZGFpbHlkZWxpZ2h0cy5jb20vcHJvZHVjdC1jYXRlZ29yeS90dWVzZGF5LTIv

It still loops 5 or 6 times now and not 100 as it was previously doing.

But I did learn if I put a url without an active link, jetpack will convert it to a link and it works correctly. This is beneficial but not a solution because I’d like to send a post with ONE word (and html links) and the link working and not have to send full urls (this looks messy)

Example: If I send text only like this, Jetpack converts it to a link in the email and it works: davenportsdailydelights.com/product-category/tuesday-2/

    Hi there, @wendiwest,

Thanks for your follow-up and for explaining the workaround you used in the meantime (not the best, you’re right).

We investigated the issue which seemed to spread a little, and we couldn’t manage to replicate it. At the present time, it looks being completely gone as it got solved.

Can you let us know if you’re still experiencing this issue at all? Thanks!

    (@wendiwest)

I had an auto message sent Friday and Sunday and the links now appear to open correctly. Jetpack has been updated twice since this time… Thank you for the follow up.

    Hey @wendiwest,

Sure thing, no problem! I am glad to hear the issue seems to be gone 🤞

I’m going to mark this thread as solved. If you have any further questions or need more help, you’re welcome to open another thread here. Cheers!
