This issue is for an adult toy store. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable.

I’m trying to set up payments. In the “Get Ready to Start Selling” check box menu on the WooCommerce Home tab, I cannot get past the “Set Up Payments” step.

I’ve enabled WooCommerce Payments, and within that have enabled credit/debit card payments. I’ve enabled Paypal payments (and have linked a Paypal account,) have selected various options for payments and have Saved all of the above. But when I return to the Home tab, the “Set Up Payments” box remains unchecked.

If I click on it, it still shows that WooCommerce and Paypal have been enabled. And yet, the box won’t check and allow me to proceed to the next step.

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Two things here:

First, the “Set up payments” thing is a bug that we are working on currently. The easiest workaround is probably to just hide the setup checklist by clicking these three dots:

… then the Disable / Hide option.

Second, the nature of your site goes against the prohibited businesses list of our payments processor for WooCommerce Payments, which is Stripe. The list is here:

https://stripe.com/legal/restricted-businesses

As such, your ability to use WooCommerce Payments will soon be terminated.

Oh good grief, are you kidding me? They’re just adult toys. So now what? I can only accept payments by mail or something?

Wish I would have known Stripe is run by Quakers before sinking all this time into a Woocommerce site.

Hello,

I can certainly understand your frustration here.

One thing I can recommend is while WooCommerce Payments wouldn’t be available for the site in question, there are other payment providers available that may be an option.

Here is a listing of our payment processor options within the marketplace. With one of these, you can add them to your store as a payment option and complete payment through them. You’ll want to review the particular extension you like best to see if they have any similar restrictions to Stripe.
