    The website has no new content released, but the homepage cache suddenly needs to be regenerated

    About how often would you say this is happening? If you look on the Advanced tab of the plugin settings, what do you have set for the cache timeout?

    Sometimes the cache may need to be regenerated even if there have been no changes to the content. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as:

    1. The cache expiration time has been reached: WP Super Cache sets an expiration time for the cached pages, after which they are deleted and new versions are generated. If the cache expiration time has been reached, WP Super Cache will regenerate the cached page, even if there have been no changes to the content.
    2. The cache was cleared manually: If you or someone else has cleared the cache manually, either through the WP Super Cache settings or by using a plugin like WP-Optimize, then the cache will need to be regenerated.
    3. A plugin or theme update has occurred: Sometimes updates to plugins or themes can cause the cached pages to become outdated, which can trigger WP Super Cache to regenerate the pages.

    The cache timeout is 0
    The cache was not cleared manually.
    Plugins and themes have not been updated.
    Occasionally, only the home page.

    Thanks for your response. It’s strange behaviour. I hope you don’t mind, but I have more questions about your setup to help us get to the bottom of this:

    1. Do you have “Extra homepage checks” enabled on the Advanced tab?

    2. Do you have “Preload mode” turned on on the “Preload” tab, and if so what Refresh setting do you have?

    3. To help us get to the bottom of the issue, would you mind turning on Debug Mode, then try to “catch it” either deleting or failing to read your homepage cache files. You can find instructions for Debug Mode here: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-super-cache/wiki/How-to-enable-debug-mode . In debug mode, WP Super Cache writes about what it is doing to a file on your server. If you send us Debug logs, please be sure to remove any private information from them before posting them here, such as your site’s URL if you do not want it listed in the forums.

    4. Alternately, it might be worth turning on the “Email me when the garbage collection runs.” setting on the Advanced tab. If you don’t get an email when your home page requires re-caching in the future, it will at least rule out the garbage collector running when it shouldn’t.

    I opened the homepage for additional inspection.
    Preloading is not turned on.
    He appears occasionally, and I don’t know when he will appear next. If it appears, I will send you the log.
