Overview
Nearpod is an award-winning student engagement platform for K-12 teachers that engages students in the classroom with interactive learning experiences. With Nearpod, students have the ability to participate in lessons that contain virtual reality, 3D objects, PhET simulations and so much more. Interactive software features empower student voice through activities like open ended questions, polls, quizzes, collaborative boards, gamified activities and more! Students will learn while having fun.

How Nearpod works:

1. Students join synchronous learning experiences led by their teachers or learn at their own pace.

2. Learning experiences are created by teachers or selected from a catalogue of over 7,000 experiences found in the Nearpod lesson library.

3. Students contribute instantaneous feedback through assessment features such as quizzes, open-ended questions, polls, drawing tools, and more.

4. Students are introduced to content through dynamic multimedia that includes VR Field trips, 3D objects, PhET simulations, BBC videos, Microsoft Sways and more.

The Nearpod Add-on for Google Slides is available to users with Nearpod Gold, Platinum, School, or District level subscriptions.

This app works well integrating Nearpod into Google Slides. I am able to 'easily' create activities within Google Slides and then export/save directly to Nearpod. I would rate it higher if it was not for two things: 1. There is a delay in loading content, meaning when I open a file in Google Slides and load up the Nearpod App within Google slides, it takes a few seconds to go through the options. Not a deal breaker but for someone who is a constant mouse-clicker (like me) it can get infuriating clicking on a slide you think has already loaded only for it to auto refresh and forcing you to redo your work. 2. When important/saving a Google Slides via the Nearpod App, it automatically makes the file size 100mb. Nearpod has a 100mb limitation (at least in the Gold and free plan I have used), so if I make edits or additions, it won't let me save it. I have exported the same Google Slide as a PowerPoint file, import it directly into Nearpod via their website and the file starts off at 15-17mb, adding activities makes it go up to 30-35mb but never to 100mb as it does through Google Slides Nearpod App. So I have stopped using it, but the app does work. ^_^

It used to make work easier but now the extension has made it impossible to use by adding directly through my google slides.

It doesn't work anymore due to security issues. Neither Firefox nor Chrome will open the addon or allow you to use it do to the way the security settings are configured. Both browsers are blocking it.

Updates to Chrome security was blocking the Google to Nearpod connection. I updated Google slides with Nearpod activities (kept closing the connection over the hour but then would not save on Nearpod). -> I solved the issue by going into Nearpod selecting create> Goggle Slides> and logging into my Goggle acct in Nearpod + I also had to allow the cookies through Chrome. Nearpod's Help Center has some resource pages that helped me figure out what to do - including "Understanding Google account permissions within Nearpod".

To be honest, something seems to go wrong with Nearpod enough times that I may have to consider not using it anymore. It's not that the product itself isn't good, it's just that as a teacher reliability matters. We need to be prepared, and since the school year has started, this is the fourth time I have had to scramble at the last minute. It doesn't matter how good the product is, if it's not reliable it's useless. When I use other platforms, I never had a problem. Our school is considering not using Nearpod anymore, and I am sad to say I have to agree. It's unfortunate.
