Copy Editor (Contract)

The Copy Editor will work with the Readers’ Choice Awards Editor, editing and fact-checking short descriptions for nominee pages.
Position: Contract (must live in the United States)
Hours: 22 per week, flexible schedule, Monday to Friday
Pay: $25/hr
The Copy Editor will:
- Work in a proprietary and highly customized content management system.
- Edit and fact-check short descriptions for nominee pages, adhering to AP Style and the USA TODAY 10Best Style Guide.
- Verify additional information, such as geocoding, physical address, website, etc.
- Add affiliate links where applicable.
- Write/supplement nominee descriptions on occasion.
- Other assigned tasks as needed.
You’re a great match if you:
- Are a well-seasoned traveler and knowledgeable about points of interest worldwide.
- Know AP Style inside and out.
- Possess a toolkit of search techniques that allows you to swiftly find correct answers.
- Have up-to-date familiarity with SEO best practices.
- Incorporate cultural sensitivity and awareness in your editing process.
- Are adept at working independently and with a fully remote team.
- Take pleasure in meticulous work that results in best-in-class content.
- Are proficient in CMS tools, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office 365.
