San Roque is where a lot of Santa Barbara local families live. It is close to everything and just far enough from the hustle and bustle of downtown. There are great schools, fun shops and delicious restaurants sprinkled throughout the area. After all, it's where much of town calls home.
See & Do
There aren't many natural attractions or museums in San Roque, but there is easy access to few hiking trails. Grassy parks are appeared around the neighborhood, with plenty of room for little ones to run off some energy. Additionally, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History lies as the Eastern most part of San Roque.
Eat
There are many great restaurants in San Roque if you know where to look. From old school steakhouses and French breakfast nooks to sushi joints and legendary Italian eateries, this area has it all. Check out our list of the 10 best restaurants in San Roque. You won't go hungry here!
Stay
Want to stay in San Roque? We don't blame you! There's aren't a whole lot of fancy hotels in the area, but there are a few fun places to rest your weary head. You can tuck into the Agave Inn for a midcentury, no frills stay (ok, there are a few frills). If it's a pool you're looking for, head on over to the Lemon Tree Inn. Or for something completely different, try Autocamp.
Shop
La Cumbre Plaza is probably the most popular shopping destination in this area, but there are plenty of other treasures if you take the time to look. Chaucer's book store is by far the best bookstore in Santa Barbara. Foodies will also find gems in San Roque, including Il Fustino and Vices and Spices.
