About Montréal, QC Shopping
In Montréal shopping is a sport and local magasinent (shop) with a passion. Not only is this a city with bargains galore, it’s also home to some of the most creative and innovative designers in Canada. Montréalers pride themselves on their impeccable taste and this city has nurtured a thriving fashion industry. There are several “main drags” for shopping—it all depends on what you’re looking for. International brand name stores are found along Ste Catherine Street, one of the main business arteries. All the major shopping centres such as Complex Les Ailes, the Eaton Centre, Complexe Desjardins, Les Galleries University, Cours Mont Royal, Place Montreal Trust and Place Ville Marie are just steps away. If you’re looking for something more egdy head over to Boulevard St. Laurent, also known as the Main. Exclusive trend-setting designs are found in the shops along Rue St. Denis while funky and fabulous second hand stores are along Avenue du Mont Royal. Hard-core fashionistas will appreciate the bargains found along Plaza St. Hubert ( particularly for shoes) and in great finds The Village Gai. Quebec has a thriving artisan community in Viex-Montréal you’ll be able to buy their latest wares. If you’re visiting in winter, you don’t even have to brave the cold since there is the Underground City/RESO with 19 miles of shops. So many shops, so little time.
