Fort Myers Drum Circle

About an hour before sunset every Sunday, a crowd forms in the city's famous Centennial Park for the Fort Myers Drum Circle. This downtown, waterfront space has a large covered pavilion, perfect for the musicians, although other events occasionally force the circle to migrate to other spots in the park. Young and old come from all over Southwest Florida to play their instruments, banging out cool beats while the sun goes down, continuing into the evening hours. Not only drums, sometimes you'll find flautists and other percussionist, dancers, artists and lots of people who are happiest to simply watch and listen. Don't have an instrument? There are almost always extras on hand. Everyone is welcome in the drum circle. You never know who will show up but it is always entertaining and in a way, a bit healing too.
