Bodie State Park is probably one of the best preserved mining ghost towns in the West. The town was home to over 10,000 people in the late 1800s when it was created to house the families of the local gold miners. About 100 buildings are still standing as well as a cemetery, the mine and miles of streets.
To preserve the ghost town atmosphere, there are no commercial facilities at Bodie, such as food or gasoline. There is a bookstore inside the museum where you may also inquire about daily tours. Flush toilets are located at the parking lot and the picnic area.
There is a fee to enter the park. Please call ahead for prices and hours.
