Jadon Sancho paid tribute to Bukayo Saka with a heartwarming message on social media after he helped England advance to the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland across 120 minutes of their quarter-final on Saturday, but came up trumps on penalties to book their spot in the last four.

Key to England's victory was Saka, who scored a sublime 80th-minute equaliser to quickly cancel out Breel Embolo's opening goal.

Saka was named UEFA's player of the match after also scoring from the spot in the shootout, his first England penalty since missing in the final of Euro 2020 against Italy. On that night, Sancho and Marcus Rashford were also off the mark, and all three players were targeted with racist abuse in the aftermath.

Taking to Instagram, Sancho took the time to praise Saka on behalf of himself and Rashford.

"I'm so proud of this guy! You did it for me and Marcus brother!" Sancho wrote.

Saka told ITV Sport following Saturday's triumph that belief was a driving factor behind his decision to step up to take a penalty in another shootout.

"We all know what happened at the last Euros," Saka said. "But I just wanted to show everyone that things could go wrong, but you have two choices. Today I believed I could do it, and that's all you have to do.

"I have the quality and I scored. So I hope that's a good lesson for a lot of people."

Saka and England return to action on Wednesday when they take on the Netherlands. Should the Three Lions prevail in Dortmund, they will face either Spain or France in the final of Euro 2024 next Sunday.
