Kate Middleton Shares Health & Return To Work Update With New Photo Amid Cancer Treatment

Kate Middleton is sharing a new update on her cancer journey.

The Princess of Wales issued a rare photo and heartfelt message as she continues treatment, telling well-wishers in a written statement on June 14 that she is feeling good about her prognosis and has plans for returning to public appearances in the coming weeks.

Kate looked as poised as ever in the new portrait from photographer Matt Porteous, marking the first time she’s been seen since announcing her diagnosis in an emotional video earlier this year. The 42-year-old mom of three explained in her latest note how she’s handling the ups and downs of her medical situation while staying positive about the future of her royal duties.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” she wrote in part.

The future queen consort shared her gratitude for “all the kind messages of support and encouragement” she’s received, saying she’s “blown away” and that the outpouring of love has “made a world of difference” for her and husband Prince William.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” she continued, revealing that she will participate in one major event during Trooping the Colour festivities.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” she added.

Kate reiterated her focus on self-care and balance, writing that she’s “learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty” and “taking each day as it comes” and giving herself time and space to recover.

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me,” she concluded.

Trooping the Colour will be the royal’s first official outing in nearly six months, and King Charles, who is undergoing his own cancer treatment, shared his excitement for the milestone in a message from Buckingham Palace.

“His Majesty is delighted that The Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day,” the statement read.
