Ignore the sad sack who called this "overrated garbage"...It's an overlooked gem by Scorsese. I saw it by happenstance in high school in the 1980s with some friends and we just loved how insanely quirky and bizarre it all was. Years later - when I lived in Manhattan - it was so odd to see Soho all built up and practically a shopping mall...nothing like it used to be as seen in this film. Have waited for HD release for years and now 4K?? Nice!

A weird strange trip from Martin Scorsese, “After Hours” shows us what happens to a cubicle office worker looking for adventure when his “dream” comes true. It’s a bizarre adventure has he decides to meet a woman and manages to meet a strange group of folks along the way. It’s sometimes twisted journey but definitely Scorsese.

Criterion does a fine job of bringing this to 4K and Blu-ray. The film looks quite nice with the use of HDR to enhance the color scheme. Depth, declination and detail is rich and sharp. Audio sounds fine with a faithful representation.

Special features in include a commentary track Scorsese cobbled together with others who worked in the film. There’s also a documentary on the making of the film. Deleted scenes, a couple of featurettes and an interview with Scorsese. The bulk of the special features are on the Blu-ray Disc not the 4 K disc.

Marty made some unusual features during the 80’s all of them interesting. Some of these films were brilliant. “After Hours” is one of the good ones. This is a pleasing set.

The film itself is somewhat minor Scorsese, Griffen Dunn, along with co-stars give great performances, and Scorsese sure knows how to move the camera, but I feel the ending is a little sloppy and unsatisfying. Still worth buying though!
