This gets 5 stars for the idea and feature set and 3 stars for the execution.

Features that make this great:

* 3 outlets: A good compromise between expanding from two outlets, but still keeping it not so bulky.
* 4 USB ports: Most every other option I saw only had 2.
* Middle screw for securing to outlet: with lots of things plugged in, you do not want it sagging.
* Pull out shelves for storing devices while charging: helpful to not require space or laying on the floor.
* Good size/profile. Not too bulky and relatively attractive.

Problems that make this not great:

* The 3 outlets are too close together. I could just barely squeeze 3 Apple laptop charger plugs in and I did have to squeeze with slight bending. Just another 1/4" of spacing would have solved this problem.
* The pull out shelves are not thick enough. To sit nicely requires a very thin phone and assumes you do not have a cover on your phone. This means it serves more as something to just balance it on, which is less satisfying and more risky.
* The pull out shelves are not strong enough. Even with a moderate weight phone, then bend downward significantly to the point where you worry they might just fail.
* The red indicator light is unnecessary. All it is doing is telling you the thing is plugged in, which is usually obvious. An outlet should sit quietly and do its job, not draw attention to itself. I suspect they are trying to brag about the surge protection it has, but I also suspect that the surge protection is of the mostly useless kind that some many so-called surge protectors provide.

I am using these and they are doing the job. Assuming they do not fail and are at least electronically solid, the negatives outweigh the positives though I wish there were something like this without the negatives.

It's functional. However I am giving this 3 stars because one of the two surge protectors makes an insanely high-pitched electrical (static-like) noise when plugged in. I effectively went half-crazy trying to figure out what was causing the noise. After trying different USB cables, different combinations of devices plugged in/out, I was finally able to isolate that the surge protector itself causes this electrical noise just from being plugged in! If you want to put this in a quieter room (ie: study, bathroom) you will certainly notice these noises! However, since only one of them makes this noise I would consider it to be a potential manufacturer defect.

I have a bunch of these. USB is so important now and it allows me to still plug in what I need to. These have the screw in the middle and I think that is a must-have these days. The tray that slides out for the phone to rest in is chinzy and most likely won't fit all phones. If you have a thicker phone buy one without the phone tray. It's just a frustration factor. I didn't buy for the slide-out trays - if I had I would probably have knicked a star. Good value for the money.

Was really excited for this charger. We bought two. When any of the USB hubs are charging any device, they produce an awful high pitched frequency that is just AWFUL. My husband can't hear it, but for me it's like I'm listening to a mosquito recording on full blast with headphones on. They didn't make that noise at first, but do every time now. They're unusable and a complete waste of money. I highly advise choosing another product instead of this one.
