The "overstrike" protection appears to simply be a little bit of thickened plastic, but better than nothing - fiberglass on the inside so overall durability is fine. Perfect budget hammer for DIY home use. Now if they'd just make the same thing (16 oz.) in a rip claw...

It is quite well made with a fiberglass shaft covered by a rubber end grip.

Best of all, it didn't break the bank. Oh yes, being a Craftsman it has a lifetime warranty, which I am sure will never be needed.
