The only reason I rated these 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price. These really shouldn't be more than $5 for 2, for a small peice of netting and some plastic edging. I paid $11.50 + tax for this set of 2, making them more than $6 each ($12.33 total).Otherwise, these work just fine, are easy to use, and do what they are supposed to do. The main reason I ordered these was to keep bugs out of the house (at least from coming in by the HVAC system), and these seem to do that.To put them on, all you really have to do is slide them around the edge of your floor register when it is upside down (see photos). So basically, lift up your floor register, turn it upside down, put this vent trap on, put it right side up, and place it back in the floor. Done.

This type of product was recommended by a technician after cleaning my ductwork for the floor vents in my kitchen and dining room to prevent food or other items from rolling into the vents and down into the ductwork. These are great! I have a spider problem, and the vents and cool air returns are one of the ways they move around the house. Just be careful putting them on because they fit really tight, which is a good thing. Close the vent first and then just try to get each of the corners on without the netting getting caught on the corners. Then open the vent back up and put the register back. I just wish they came in more sizes. I have a bunch of 8"x8" vents that I'm going to have to try and screen myself.

I tried the screen inserts and filter inserts for years but never really happy because they trap moisture from debris that they catch. This especially true in the kitchens and bathrooms. This causes our expensive decorative registers to rusty. Tried these new filters that fit over the back of the register and am really happy with them. I will never stop using them. They work so well at catching my wife’s jewelry too. Strongly recommend this product to all.

Much nicer than small ugly white filters if you’re already using larger air filters in the air handler unit and return vents. After cleaning our ducts we have them in the whole house now and I’m looking forward to having no bugs coming out of them in the spring.
