The title of this book tells everything: this is quick intro to using Lucene in .NET - so it doesn't cover explanations of Lucene. Author wrote at the beginning that the goal of the book is to have in one place example to get up and running with Lucene.NET and it is true. The book is rather for beginners: if you have some experience with Lucene or you'd like to know some about Lucene it is not a book for you. Even the chapters titled "Become an expert" don't contains really experts' knowledge.
I think that it will be much better to buy good book about Lucene ("In action...") and eventually search informations how to do it in .NET on the websites than buy book about how to do it in .NET and search information how Lucene works.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

The book is an Introduction to Lucene.Net. It was useful. Potential buyer should be aware that buying the ebook from amazon will limit his possibilities: will need to contact the puiblisher to get the supporting files and won't be able to get different versions of the eBook (no pdf, etc...).

pretty useless for learning - all the code is wrapped/hidden in their silly "LuceneDotNetHowToExamplesFacade", so you don't learn the underlying lucene techniques - you learn their implementation of it.
