No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward Hardcover – May 7, 2024
Purchase options and add-ons
The New York Times bestselling author, governor of South Dakota, and former congresswoman tells eye-opening stories of DC dysfunction, shares lessons from leading her state through unprecedented challenge, and explains how we seize this moment to move America forward.
Any elected official can talk about how broken our government is. But their solutions always seem to involve more money, new programs—and reelection to another term. Few offer an unfiltered glimpse into how government actually works, empowering citizens with the knowledge to be part of the solution.
Governor Kristi Noem never planned on being in politics. But her concern for our nation compelled her, on a local, national, and global level. Because she took a different path into public service, as a concerned mom and rancher, her insights help every citizen understand how positive change really happens, despite the dysfunction in Washington DC.
Governor Noem explains how the country is not going back to the Republican party of the 2000s. And that’s a good thing. This book is packed with surprising stories and practical lessons from the front lines of the battle. And she names names.
A lot has changed since 2016, and based on her accomplishments in Congress and as Governor, no one is better equipped than Kristi Noem to explain the tremendous opportunities this opens up for every American.

Mrs Noem in this enjoyable read from a washington Insider with her feet still on the ground gives us steps how each of us can be apart of not turning back and giving up on America but rather in standing out ground, channeling our anger into others affected so we can out think the bullies and influence change.
At the end of October, 2023 in Oslo, Norway --- migration and justice ministers from Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway as well as Iceland announced a deal to strengthen efforts for migrants to return to their countries of origin, and to deport illegal residents to third countries.
If immigration is the #1 issue troubling American voters, along with economic hardships — visiting the countries of the Scandinavian peninsula to find out what is working since last year when the plan was laid out — and what’s not; what is applicable to the illegal migrant crisis in the United States and what’s not - could be very productive. Kristi Noem as VP tackling US illegal immigration ---a daunting challenge not many would be up to the task . . .. P.S. - all the countries of Scandinavian have high rating on transparency international .org —- & none by the way have E-voting machines. New Zealand is also high in the ratings . . paper ballots / hand counted and NO DRAMA at election time - that's enough to make Americans cry. I reviewed this book and live in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Still contains factual errors beyond those mentioned in media e.g. South Dakota was only state that didn’t shut down during covid. What about Utah, Iowa, Arkansas and others? Would also benefit from more careful proofreading.
On positive side, it is short and easy read.
P.S. In general, 1-star reviews were made in early May presumably during Noem’s book tour. Higher 5-star reviews posted in later May or early June.
