I’m not one who reads much. But I started this book, it kept my attention.
So I continued, overtime to finish it. It was very good

I chose to give this book five stars because I love the main characters, Michael Bennett, his Irish wife, Grandpa Shamus and the family dynamics.
Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2023
This Michael Bennett story is definitely different than all the others. The change is probably due to the change in the co-author. Detective Bennett is now much more of a team member, has a partner and actually follows some rules. The story is interesting but too much of this story is spent on leads that go nowhere. Although this book likely better reflects how police actually work, it slows down the story. Character development also suffers; the reader has a better understanding of several characters/suspects who are not the killer than they do of the killer.
The title doesn’t fit, in my opinion, and the book promotion is just plain wrong. The word obsessed is stronger than the manner in which this killer behaved. New York City doesn’t even know there is a serial killer. Bennett’s daughter is NOT the object of the killer’s ‘obsession’ — there is no connection at all! Whoever wrote the promotional material either read a different book or didn’t read the book at all. This book is more of a police procedural than a psychological thriller.
In summary, different than most of the other Michael Bennett books, misleading title, wrong promotional info and somewhat disappointing. If you have a long to-be-read list, just skim or speed read this one and hope the next in the series is better.

James Patterson and James O. Born have created a great NYPD detective series with some love and romance thrown in. I highly recommend the series starting with the first book “Step on a Crack”.

I love almost all of James Pattersons books especially Michael Bennett and Alex Cross. This one took a while to figure out. I love the close net family and their excitement and hardships make me want to jump inside the book and hold them. Keep up the good work and bring more of the two afore mentioned guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid addition to the Bennett series
Reviewed in Canada on August 26, 2023
Yet another good novel in the Michael Bennett series. This one revolves around a serial killer (surprise!) and the convoluted path taken by Bennett and his associates to find the man responsible. As usual there's the personal Bennett life mixed in with the action, although not as much as some previous books. This is a solid read, well written and addictive. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Compelling read and anda complicated case for Michael Bennett to solve.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 7, 2024
A series of murders with a common denominator as they all involve pretty young women. There are many suspects but all seem.... innocent. Eventually things start to develop and after a load of setbacks the perpetrators is cornered . There is a surprising conclusion though. Entertaining read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty boring
Reviewed in India on March 1, 2024
Not quite what I'd like to say about a Michael Bennet thriller but James O'Born is a pretty boring author more on descriptions & English rather than action suspense & thrills which are normally associated with a Bennett novel Patterson needs to chose his co-authors very carefully
