I got this for the TV in my gaming room/spare bedroom, paired with a 40" Sony TV. I want to say right off the bat that this soundbar is at least 2 years old, and I believe it has since technically been replaced by the Vizio M Series All-In-One soundbar for only about $30 more so If you want the latest and greatest, go with that one. The newer one also had HDMI-ARC, while the best connection on this one is Optical. The reason I went with this one regardless is that it is easier to mesh with my Logitech Harmony Hub. Most newer Vizio soundbars use a small LCD screen with menus on the remote to change a lot of the settings, so I would still need the original remote, defeating the point of the Harmony Hub. I also like the design on this one a lot better too, it looks very sci-fi tech with the slanted sides and triangular bass vents on either end, but it's not distracting or gaudy either. I didn't want to spend a lot, because I use a wireless headset much of the time, but didn't want anything that sounded like junk either. Whew boy, this thing actually surprised me! It has "built in" subwoofers, and it really does bring on the bass! I have no desire for a standalone subwoofer with this. Also, a separate sub on the floor or near a wall has a chance of projecting the "thumping" sound through walls or other structure and disturbing people in other rooms. I can turn this bar up to a pleasing volume and it doesn't bleed into any other rooms of the house. I didn't have any of the problem some other people were mentioning about volume steps being too far apart and having to settle for either too loud or too quiet, it's been granular enough for me to find the perfect volume, anyway. Maybe since I bought this so long after release it has a newer firmware pre-installed that addressed that or something. The DTS Virtual-X surround mode is really convincing, at least in my situation in an approximately 120 sq. ft. room, and sitting about 5 feet from the TV with the bar on the TV stand at about chest level. The soundstage is really wide, and directional audio is clear. I even detect sounds coming from behind, very nice for positioning in a videogame. Tested it a lot on Apex Legends, a game I've been addicted to as of late, and I'm pretty sure the positional audio saved my butt on a number of occasions, hearing players try to sneak up behind me. I know it's all science and physics, but it really does seem like magic. I really don't know how they get this kind of precise 3D audio out of what's just a stereo signal being fed to it. I don't detect much if any overhead audio, which I think DTS-X is supports, but that's not that important to me. Tru-Volume however I don't like. At first it seems to balance the volume of everything as intended, so you don't get blasted by commercials that are much louder than the show for example, but it also really compresses the dynamic range, and it makes weird adjustments to stuff that is supposed to be louder than everything else. For example when an explosion goes off it also lowers the volume of everything else too, which sounds unnatural. I leave it off and am content to quickly adjust the volume manually if something gets way louder or softer. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this soundbar, especially for the price! Like I said the newer M Series bar might sound better and have more features, but for my use this thing is perfect. I would definitely recommend it for a bedroom, dorm, or other small area where space might be at a premium.

We rented a cabin recently that had one of these in their theater room. I was so surprised when I heard the fullness and clarity it put out. Due to the way the left and right speakers are placed on the soundbar, you actually get stereo separation! The bass and subwoofer sealed the deal. Action packed movies and streaming music sound great! We use the 1/8" audio input jack. Hookup and control are easy peasy. It comes with a nice remote control and the ability to change the equalization! I definitely recommend this especially because of the price.

I bought this looking for a sound solution that was a step above the bad built-in sound of my TV, so a soundbar seemed the best first step. The sound quality is decent enough, has two preset EQ's and the ability to adjust bass/treble. The only problems I've had so far are with the buttons that are built into the soundbar itself. They are extremely difficult to read since they are matte black buttons with matte black markings. You'll need to use these if you want to turn off the semi-annoying power saving mode, which turns the bar off all of the time if you don't use it for a fraction of a second. (Hold Power+DownVolume on bar itself to turn it off).

Great for the price so far, will update if I run into any issues that might knock it down.

I bought this sound bar made by Vizio because I own a vizio smart tv which had an internal speaker blown. Thought I’d have to buy a new tv but when I found this it was a blessing. With a AC plug and an optic cord connector it was a snap to turn on and my sound is just wonderful. Perfect solution!

It’s good enough for the price but not as great as I hoped for. It performs best at volumes that are too loud for my small living room. At lower volumes you don’t get the Benefit of a sound bar versus the built in speakers in the tv. It’s ok for music as well but I have a small Bose wireless speaker and its much much better sound quality overall. Also the controls on the sound bar, which are little white LEDs, are confusing to follow even with the instruction book. I know this may come across as a fussy and maybe somewhat unfair review. For the money, it’s absolutely fine and I think it will be a great upgrade in sound for most people.

With the accompanying optical cord the setup couldn’t have been simpler. And, for a larger than average bedroom, the sound truly fills the space quite well. And, while I don’t think I’ll hook up my iPhone all that often, the Bluetooth is a really nice touch. I highly recommend the product. It’s well worth the price.

Bought this for two reasons, 1) was for the sound was mid range combined into one unit. This way I don’t have to run any extra cords or have a wireless controlled subwoofer. 2) was so that it would work seamlessly with my Vizio TV which has smart cast in it and can be controlled by Alexa.

The first was accurate! Great sound for the price, perfect for the size room we have and I totally agree with all the previous accolades. That is as far as the song goes.
The second item however is considerably more disappointing. It turns out that I’m Visio sound bar is the only way you can control the unit through the TV is if it has an HDMI which makes it compatible with the HDMI controls are port 1 on the TV. As it turns out most of the smaller sound bar units that Visio megs do not have an HDMI port. Meaning that you have to spend well over $200 as well as run wires all over the place.

I will now send this unit to the bedroom TV once I get a system that can be controlled with Alexa. I feel this is a major flaw in the design by Visio as they would sell many many many more units of this great little system.

Simple set-up: optical wire attached from soundbar into Vizio 4K TV, then plugging in power cord. Sound level rated 3-star vs. more expensive / complex TV sound systems; but noticeable improvement vs. sound from TV speakers. (Wish I had made this soundbar addition much sooner!)
