The Book That Won A Presidential Pardon!

Updated With Breaking News! Plus Copy Of The Pardon!

On the morning of July 2, 2012, in the most dangerous warzone in the world, Lieutenant Clint Lorance took command of his small band of American paratroopers at the spearhead of the American War in Afghanistan. Intelligence reports that morning warned of a Taliban ambush against Lorance’s platoon. Fifteen minutes into their patrol, three military-age Afghan males crowded on a motorcycle and sped aggressively down a Taliban-controlled dirt road toward Lorance’s men. Three weeks earlier, outside the massive American Kandahar Airfield, Taliban terrorists struck by motorcycle, riding into a crowded area, detonating body-bombs and killing twenty-two people. Sixty-three days before that, three Ohio National Guard soldiers were murdered in another motorcycle-suicide bombing. Suicide-by-motorcycle had become a common Taliban murder-tactic against Americans.
Lorance had seconds to react. Either open fire and protect his men, or ignore the speeding motorcycle and pray like hell that his men weren’t about to get blown the hell up. In a split-second decision, Lorance ordered his men to fire. When no weapons were found on the Afghan bodies, the Army betrayed one of its finest young officers and prosecuted Lorance for “murder.” Hiding crucial evidence from the military jury, and ordering his own men to testify against him or face murder charges themselves, they railroaded Lorance into a 20-year prison sentence at Fort Leavenworth, where he remains today. TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE chronicles the true story of the most despicable political prosecution in American military history.

NATIONALLY BESTSELLING AUTHOR DON BROWN, (born June 3, 1960) is an American author of eleven published novels, and four significant military works of non-fiction, including CALL SIGN EXTORTION 17: The Shoot-Down of SEAL Team Six, and THE LAST FIGHTER PILOT: The True Story of the Final Combat Mission of World War II. LAST FIGHTER PILOT became a national bestseller the first week of its release, being named to the PUBLISHERS WEEKLY BESTSELLERS LIST in nonfiction for all hardbacks. The NEW YORK POST called LAST FIGHTER PILOT a "MUST READ." The book was also endorsed by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and spent several weeks on the nationally-acclaimed Conservative Book Club's national bestseller list.

In addition to LAST FIGHTER PILOT, he is perhaps best known for his non-fiction military expose, CALL SIGN EXTORTION 17: The Shoot-Down of SEAL Team Six, released by Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Company in 2015. TREASON explored the issues and dangers of radical Islamic infiltration in the US military. CALL SIGN EXTORTION 17 is a non-fiction account of the 2011 Chinook shootdown in Afghanistan of the U.S.Navy SEAL Team, with Brown contending that the SEAL's deaths were caused, in part, because of "politically correct" rules of engagement. Don has been interviewed by SEAN HANNITY, TOMI LAHREN, GEORGE NOORY, and has been featured in the WASHINGTON TIMES and the NEW YORK POST in connection with the EXTORTION 17 shoot-down.

CALL SIGN EXTORTION 17 served as a basis for the 2021 docudrama movie, FALLEN ANGEL:Extortion 17, (fallenangel.film) released by Triple Horse Studios, in which Don makes several appearances in the film and serves as it's narrarator.

In 2003, Don began writing TREASON, his first novel in the NAVY JUSTICE SERIES, chronicling the life and adventures of JAG officer ZACK BREWER. TREASON explored the dangers of radical Islamic infiltration in the United States Military. Don wrote the novel, in part as a warning to the public about those dangers. TREASON was released in 2005.

Then, on Thanksgiving Day of 2009, TREASON rocketed to the number 1 bestselling novel for fiction on the prestigious Amazon.com bestselling list for fiction, where it remained for more than a week. Why? Because the novel included a scene depicting virtually the same scenario which later occurred at Fort Hood, where a radical Muslim member of the United States military opened fire indiscriminately at a US Military base, in furtherance of a radical political agenda. Some even said the novel had "predicted" the Fort Hood tragedy.

On May 26 of 2010, OnlineUniversities.com ranked Don's three novels of the NAVY JUSTICE SERIES -- TREASON, HOSTAGE and DEFIANCE -- among its list of "50 Best Legal Novels for Both Lawyers and Laymen." TREASON, HOSTAGE and DEFIANCE were rated 3,4 and 5 in the "Supsense" category among the list of 50.

In August of 2011, Zondervan released Don's sixth novel, THUNDER IN THE MORNING CALM, an explosive thriller about North Korea. THUNDER IN THE MORNING CALM examines the question -- "Did America leave men behind in North Korean Prison Camps some sixty years ago?" Will this, too, turn out to be prophetic?

In November of 2012, FIRE OF THE RAGING DRAGON, Don's seventh novel, examined a fictional war in the early 21st Century between China and Taiwan. The US President sends in the Seventh Fleet to try and break up the war between the two Chinas. But with America trillions of dollars in debt to the Commmunists, and with the President's daughter's life on the line, can America still stand for freedom?

DON BROWN served on active duty for five years in the Navy as a JAG officer, during which time he served as military prosecutor, a Special Assistant United States Attorney, and also won the New York City Bar Association Trial Advocacy Award for winning the trial advocacy championship at the United States Naval Justice School. DON BROWN remained on inactive reserve status with the Navy through 1999, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He currently lives in his native North Carolina.

I like everything about this book and so does my cat Herbert. This is not an ordinary military book. Before reading TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE I had never read a vivid description of what our soldiers contend with while they serve in dangerous locales, such as the middle east. Not only is danger of being shot or stepping on a landmine a reality, but so is the unrelenting 100 degree or more heat, while wearing heavy protective clothing. Added to that, as Don describes in his book, our soldiers had to endure politically correct rules that our 'leaders' required them to adhere to which made it easier for the enemy to kill them. The entire scenario is surreal to say the least. Don's ability to explain an injustice to the reader, compelling him/her to understand the issue and move to action to right wrongs is unrivaled. A gripping and excellent review of 1LT. Clint Lorance, U.S Army and the political miscarriage of the U.S. Army's Military Justice system imposed, resulting in his now serving a 19 year sentence in Ft. Leavenworth for performing his duty as a trained and experienced Platoon Leader in protecting his men during a Taliban attack, in the most dangerous part of Afghanistan. An excellent review of the entire situation and facts, from his initial assignment to Afghanistan, the events leading up to the fatal firefight and the decision of the U.S. Army General Court-martial to find 1LT Lorance guilty of murder / attempted murder, while under fire from the Taliban. The US. Army prosecutor, for imposed political reasons, deliberately withheld crucial information from the court and defense that would prove the victims killed were IED Bomb Makers and his platoon had greatly suffered severe casualties from IEDs during the previous week. ILT Lorance is only guilty of protecting his men during battle and bringing all of them home safely. His story should cause rage in every American for such a Travesty of Justice. This is an excellent in depth review of an imposed miscarriage of the military justice system to justify the Obama Administration's policy of Leading From Behind, that has further endangered our troops in Afganistan through ever changing rules of engagement to appease diplomatic interventions.

Travesty of Justice was an outstanding book about the railroading of LT Clint Lorance, a young Army officer trying to serve his country and protect the men that he was chosen to lead. The sad state of the Military Justice System has placed an innocent man into Leavenworth prison for murder, despite evidence that proves those he ordered be killed were indeed THE ENEMY and proven IED bomb makers. That evidence was never permitted to be presented into court, nor was other exonerating information, because someone, somewhere in the giant cog of the political BS wheel wanted the frame him for this, so in Leavenworth he sits.

This book will open your eyes to the poor legal system available to anyone in the military accused of a crime and should make anyone shudder at the fact that this is happening in AMERICA to AMERICA’S BEST AND BRIGHTEST. Sadly, Clint is not the first, or the last. Reform is needed. Write your Congressman and your Senators. Write the POTUS. Loud voices need to be heard regarding this horrible travesty.

The book presents a comprehensive look at how politics can impact military justice. It is comprehensive in explaining the prosecution of Lt. Clint Lorance and the injustice of it. It is easy to follow even if you don't have a military background. It is reasonably well-written but has a lot of proofreading errors.

I appreciate the step by step detail the author uses to set the backdrop of the story then caries it throughout the book. The way Lt Lorance is portrayed leaves one with the impression he is more prefect that he must truly be. He truly is an exemplary person. Bravo for his perseverance of attitude under such trial. Clint’s treatment underlies the fundamental corruption of ‘Political Correctness’ in that it readily subverts truth in order to serve an agenda. It is shameful that the U S military has divorced truth from justice to serve a dishonest political agenda and defends its actions in this case without a twinge of conscience. What morally separates the Obama administration from the modus operandi of the Middle East in general? The players in the Army’s case against Lorance should all be subject to sentence handed down to him for their miscarriage of justice, judge included. We use to be a nation governed by the rule of law - fair laws. Shame on US for putting up with anything less.

Aside from being an extremely well written book this book will leave you with such emotions that I even have difficulty expressing. Incredible and so heart wrenching that this soldier is still sitting in prison. Clint Lorance is a true American hero and we are praying for Clint to get free from the shackles of lies bestowed on him. Author Don Brown did an excellent job in clearly displaying this story at hand. Job well on Don Brown!!!

It is easy to draw conclusions without knowing all the facts. This book comprehensively, yet concisely, covers the shocking details. It will leaving you wondering how such a stellar performer, such as 1LT Clint Lorance, could be incarcerated for killing two confirmed Taliban enemy combatants when Clint never even fired his weapon and the actions of his Paratroopers who did engage the enemy were consistent with the Rules of Engagement (ROEs).

Hard to believe the military justice system from the CID investigators clear to the top of the chain of command could sink to the depths chronicled in this book.
If you want a good look at what our soldiers have to endure in Afghanistan, and the risks they have to take, from the enemy and even their own command for doing the right thing, read this book. Imagine being railroaded in a kangaroo court-martial for killing Taliban bombers threatening your patrol and getting 20 years in Levanworth...because the prosecution and CID withhold evidence proving your innocence. And then the Chief Judge of the Army makes public comments that make appealing your wrongful conviction impossible.
This is why I've supported uap.org.
