A thoroughly entertaining adventure. I recommend this story to any who enjoy the genre. I would have liked to hear an ending note of our potential shieldmaiden, but other than that I've no complaints!

Detailed account of the EIC in its spectacular period. Much detail of challenges, naval actions, opportunistic trading, and wealth . A loot romance, including jewels and humans alike.

The crew sings “Slent Night” on Christmas 1796. However it wasn’t composed until Christmas of 1818.

When I first started this book, I was a bit disappointed, I expected a sequel to Kingfisher. It didn't take long for me to realize I was wrong. This book is far better, more exciting, interesting and actually bloodier than Kingfisher. A very interesting and engaging protagonist. A thoroughly enjoyable book.

For a wonderful and refreshing change, our hero is a civilian captain of a well-armed Indiaman. While not as violent as a Royal Navy saga, there's still plenty of action.

What should have been an exciting read, wasn't.
Whatever happened to the author to have him, or someone, produce this very ho-hum novel after a great run of the Dorset Boy Series.?

Probably why the 99c buy price

Sorry Christopher 🥺

Again, a fantastic story telling about the East Indiaman Company and its ships. The captains made fortunes, it’s no wonder many books about the time include a retired captain in their cast. Loved the story and can’t wait for the next book, I’m sure it will be as good if not better.
