This thing works great! I was a little worried at first, just due to introducing something new to my dog, whether or not she would use it. I got this for when I take her for rides in my Jeep, but I wanted to get her accustomed to it. I filled it with water, I set it down, showed her the water, and she's been using it ever since. She likes it better than her 5 gal jug /water bowl.
The design works well. It doesn't spill at all. You can pick it up by the handle and it won't spill either. Easy to fill and clean. Holds plenty of water, especially for smaller / medium dogs...mine is only 55 lbs and she's been using it for 2 days, and it looks to have another 3-4 days worth still in it. It won't replace her 5 gal bowl for the house, but it's nice to know it'll last plenty long enough out on the trail. Large dogs might (or might not) balk at it. The bowl itself is kind of small (about 3 3/4" at the top, 1 3/4" where most of the water is), and it keeps the water level in the bowl low (to avoid spills). Again I don't know if it's an issue for larger dogs or not. Just something to think about (it does look bigger in the pics). Other then that, I read a complaint about the bowl being hard to screw in? Not mine (but mine isn't the blue bowl in the pics, it's a light grey, which looks better IMHO). It's no harder than the lid on her food bowl hopper. Turn it backwards 'till the threads seat, then screw it forward. Easy enough.
Overall I think it'll be great for the trails to keep her hydrated in the AZ heat. Heck, you can even put ice in it.

Friends of mine have some of these and when I rescued my pup this summer I knew I had to find this!

The bowl stays in my car for water on the road, including trips to visit family, dog parks, and road trip water. I live in a state that turns off water at parks in the winter due to freezing temps, so this is crazy handy to have when visiting dog parks as an easy source of water. I keep it in the car, filled, and have yet to have any leaks. Took a 3-state road trip with the pup and left this in the back seat (on a pet seat cover hammock) so the pup could have a drink as needed and there were no messes. It is also convenient for visiting family who don’t have pets to have this water container handy.

It is a sturdy, hard plastic that hasn’t cracked despite freezing with water inside of it. The lid can be hard to twist off to clean at times, but in general this is a heck of an idea. It took a moment for my pup to figure out that there is indeed plenty of water in it (it looks like there is only a tiny bit) but now she has no problem using it. There is no cover to go over the lid so it can splash a bit when walking with it if it is filled too high, but other wise I strongly recommend!!

As and over the road truck driver with my dog in the truck. This bowl comes in very handy. I would recommend placing something like a cheese cloth around the twist top, to prevent any of the debris from fur or anything else from getting lodged inside of it, making it harder to clean. So other than that issue, it works great. Would love to see one with a mesh covering so that debris is not being collected inside of the container reducing the number of times I have to wash it.

We bought one of these in a small town hardware store in the heat of the summer about 3 years ago.

Ever since, everywhere we go, dog (and non dog) owners ask us where we bought our waterboy, and until recently I could only direct them to either the small town where we purchased it or google.

It was only until I found out it was a available on Amazon, that I immediately bought one for my mum and her new Mexican rescue pup, and can now direct people here!

What we love:

- It can sit on the car floor or seat and stay mess free even while commuting
- It doesn’t require our assistance, it’s completely dog friendly
- Markers indicate where the “fill” line is so that you don’t overfill the container
- It has a large reservoir, meaning less frequent fills
- It’s super easy to fill
- It’s also super easy to clean
- If we need to save on space, we tilt it into the standing position and tuck it in the trunk of our car until it’s used

User Tips:

- Unless it’s on a flat surface, it can spill if the reservoir is close to full (not the company’s error though). Ensure you fill it just up to the fill line and keep it on a stable flat surface and it should be fine.

Love it! Absolutely spill proof and doesn't soak the carpet in the van. If you want to fill the drinking part more full you gently step on the top and the bowl fills quickly. Not too heavy to carry on hikes and the handle is pretty comfortable. I put a small piece of rug pad under it to keep in from sliding in my van. Tough and durable, well worth the price in my opinion.
