Manhunter: Book One of the Manhunter series Kindle Edition

“He killed them, Cotton! Killed ‘em both!”. “What are you talking about, Jim? Who killed who?” Cotton reached for the bloody tarp, but let go as Jim climbed over the seat and into the back of the wagon. “Slim…my stable hand! Dirty bastard killed them!” “Who did he kill?” “Karen, my little girl,” Larkin yelled as he jerked the bloody tarp back. Matthew Blue is known as Manhunter by the Comanche. He has been hired to track a serial killer in rural Kansas, only to discover a different killer is following him. His nemesis has sworn to see Matthew dead, even if it means leaving a trail of dead bodies to see it done. “A riveting tale of justice in the old west.” Dallas Review “Manhunter is an enigma. In the business of bringing in fugitives, he is also a caring man with a conscience. When it comes to suspense, nobody writes it as well as Major Mitchell.” Pat Decker Nipper, author of Love On The Lewis And Clark Trail “A vivid story of a half white, half Indian bounty hunter trying to bring in a young killer, while dealing with the contrast of cultures. Well written.” Tom Alberti, author of The Horseman series.

From the Author

MANHUNTER began as a 93-page manuscript I gave to my wife as a Christmas present because she loves to read. She was unaware I could write at all. When I came home from work she had just finished reading it. She said "I love it!" then handed it back to me and said, "It's too short! Make it longer." So I did, and the adventure began.

I've always been interested in all things western, and particularly the situation of the American Indian.( Yes, that's what they were called until the last couple of decades.) I try to see people as individuals, and the race issue baffles me. I and my family are white, but three of our children married Hispanic spouses, and we have lots of beautiful grandchildren. I love each and every one of them and they're a wonderful blend of characters and personalities who truly light up my life.

About the Author

Best described as a "nice guy," Major Mitchell is a former pastor, and credits his writing abilities to eight years of writing sermons three times a week. (In truth, he actually began by writing and illustrating comic books as a child). His conversational style immediately engages the reader. He has developed an uncanny eye for detail, while creating characters believable enough for the reader to feel that they know them. His ability to create tension will have you turning page after page.A member of Western Writers of America and a frequent guest speaker at historical meetings and schools on the West Coast, he has also written several songs, recorded a CD of traditional country/folk music, and occasionally takes the stage as a singer.

SPUR award finalist Major Mitchell loves writing, singing and playing the guitar, but the real joys of his life are his family and his faith. He says spending time with his grandchildren is the most fun anyone could ever hope to have. He has always been active in his church and at one time was a pastor in Southern California.

Although Major had spent many an hour and countless reams of paper as a child creating his own comic books (mostly westerns), it wasn't until he entered college that he began to think of writing as a serious pastime. He remembers being held after class on his second day in English 1-B, and listening with fear as his professor cautioned several others that they were not prepared for her class and should transfer out. She then proceeded to encourage Major and one other student to enroll in a creative writing class, as they had a true talent with words. Since that day, he has enrolled in several classes and writing organizations that have helped develop in him the talent you will find in his published novels and his children's picture books. We are confident that, after reading any of his historical Western novels, contemporary Christian romances or children's books, you will also become a member of his ever-growing fan base.

"I like using opposites, things most people would not consider putting together. It is easy to think of Cinderella as being the nice, mistreated, poor girl with a heart of gold being rescued by Prince Charming. But what if Cinderella has some spice, and is willing to get into Prince Charming's face. What if she is anything but what Prince Charming expected, and he turns out to be the opposite of what she expected. Then, add some outside conflict and see what happens. This always makes for a good story, especially when based around historical events."... Major Mitchell

Gripping Western with good history included. This series of books have interesting characters, good plot, and packed with action. Once I finished book 3 I was disappointed that there wasn't a book 4.

A wounded soldier; a beautiful wife; and, a darling baby girl who loved “Mat’ew.” There is so much going on with outlaws, a man named “Manhunter,” and the Sheriff who needed help to bring calm to his town. I loved this story and couldn’t put the book down. Horror came to those who tried to bring peace to southern Kansas.

Man hunter was an intense Western, with plenty of romance, gunfire, cowboys, Indians, and missionaries. It was too intense for me at times, but if you love Westerns with all of the above and lots of gunshots and wounds, this may be the book for you. Enjoy this book if this is your favorite genre.

This is the story of the half breed bounty hunter and his quest to find the murder of two young people. Man-hunter, as her was known, started his search for Otis/ Frank at the family farm of Harold, Vicky and daughter Carol. The author is Major Mitchell and he has done an amazing job with the plot and the characters. He has filled each and every page with adventure and excitement. You will greatly enjoy reading this tale. I highly recommend it.

This story was surprising in several ways. The hero was a likable character and in fact there were several hero’s. The heroine was exactly that a heroine but also flawed as we all are. The bad guys and there were several, caused a lot of havoc and pain. I am glad for the happy ending. Also happy to get to know these characters.
