I've been following The Lonely Island through their many entertainment endeavors and it has certainly been a wild ride. When I heard they were making a film "instead of a new album," I was thrilled but also a bit nervous because the film, to me, had to live up to the expectation of their ingenious albums that I have molded almost the last ten years of my life.But my expectations were exceeded.I laughed throughout the entire movie and hoped that TLI never breaks up like The Style Boyz. Not only did I feel like this movie was tailored for their fans, but the boy's sense of humor seems to age like fine wine. I should've known they'd create a soundtrack for the film but it still came as a surprise to me when I arrived home after seeing the film and was able to download the whole album. The Boyz definitely delivered.I understand some didn't enjoy the film and naturally, it might not be for everyone; many have also compared it to their previous film, Hot Rod, but IMO, they are complete opposite genres and are meant to be different. The film is a mocumentary but with TLI's insane musical creativity, they still manage to make every song sound like it could be an actual hit (IRL).

I can see how this parody could be received with either praise or scorn, as it has enough to be quite funny but overstays its welcome.

I like the mockumentary style concept of this film. It’s stupid but pretty funny and takes aim at the up and coming stars and their massive egos. The cameos were pretty clever and awesome too. Tim Meadows as Conner’s manager. The ones by Emma Stone, Seal, Bill Hader, Justin Timberlake were pretty funny as well. The TMZ parody scene was hilarious as was the “catch phrase” segment.

However, as it happens quite often with mediocre comedies, eventually it just got way too repetitive, stupid, and vulgar and the jokes became old to the point where you just the film to be over. I just don’t think they had enough in the script to fill the basis for the entirety of a full lengthed parody, and so you are left with a film that is hilarious at some points and meh at others.

Criminally underrated - one of the funniest movies that nobody has heard of. Somebody in the marketing department messed up big time. This movie had me and everyone I've introduced it to laughing from beginning to end.

Bought this after watching it online and was absolutely spoiled by the amount of bonus footage, deleted scenes, and music videos. Over an hour of extra footage, which adds up to being almost as long as the movie, and really adds to the characters and the story. Full of can't miss gems that only didn't make the cut to keep the movie tight. If you like the movie you will LOVE the blu-ray.

Popstar nails modern celebrity culture in a mockumentary packed with hilarious, catchy, ridiculous and inappropriate, yet brilliant songs that The Lonely Island are best known for. The dozens of celebrity cameos and great side characters really cement the realism of this satirical mockumentary.

Andy Samberg brings his classic boyish charm and charisma to the main role, making a ridiculous character incredibly likeable in what might be the funniest performance of his career. The chemistry between the main characters is great, and if that's not enough for you, there's a tortoise, in crucial role that adds a lot of heart to the movie.

If you're a fan of Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-nine, the Lonely Island, Judd Apatow comedies, or are looking for a fresh comedy that will turn almost and bad day around, definitely check out this movie.
