What Is an Oven Thermometer?
An oven thermometer is a small, stainless steel oven-safe thermometer with a clock face dial that allows you to take the most accurate temperature of the oven. An oven thermometer allows you to measure the exact internal temperature of your oven—or as close as you can get—to ensure even more exact cook times and results.
The oven thermometer can be put in before you turn on your oven, as long as you feel secure it is in a safe place not touching the sides/flames, this will obviously effect the temperature. You will then be able to get the optimum temperature you want before putting your dish in.

BASE TOO SMALL
It gave an accurate and rapid reading in the oven. If the temperature is set, for example, to 375 degrees, as soon as it read 375 degrees the oven would immediately ding indicating it had reached 375 degrees. So, they were in harmony and that's a plus for the KT Thermo. However, whoever designed the base and whoever okayed it for final production made a big mistake.. They ruined it. It is as if they ordered the boxes first, from where I don't know but you can tell that English was not their 1st language, and discovered the boxes were too small for a larger base so they had to go with a 2" useless base.The image compares it with a Taylor thermometer, which lags behind the temperature by about 30 seconds but it will read it accurately. The Taylor has a 3" base which fits nicely on the oven's rack. The KT Thermo has only a 2" base and will not sit on the rack and falls right through it. . I had to set it on a rack from my toaster oven in order to test it. The small base renders it basically useless unless i use another rack to set it on. Could have been a five star review if it had a longer base but I assume they deemed a longer base not cost effective. And hanging it in the oven was not an option. Too bad.
