But before that? With regular customer service? Things became a protracted nightmare when the agent lied about something meant to fix a UPS problem, and It became a protracted mess, as product availability was dependent on timing.
I also learned the $21.99 warranty I had originally paid on the item? Was now going to cost about $78.99 to buy (the lesser quality and priced) replacement item (now (119. vs the 150 I had paid earlier) "What the hell kind of price increase is this? I asked of the Asurion Agent. "It now costs almost 2/3 the price of the ice machine for a three year extended warranty, and about 1/2 price for a two year extended warranty. First: they are not calling them extended warranties any more, they have a new name for the same thing.
Second: She claimed it was not a price increase at all, but that it's simply correcting an error that Amazon has had the wrong price file loaded for decades. This is simply a correction and we are lucky that they are honoring them at all. I hope Amazon offers other insurers, or is not participating in the profit now. I don't know if this trend of almost tripling prices is happening elsewhere, but it's giving me one more reason to buy everything at Costco.
