Best online TV service for saving money.
I ordered Frndly TV in July of 2019 . It was the best decision I made. I live in a rural area of Pennsylvania where there is no cable television. I have to use my phone company for the Internet service. I love the service because of The Weather Channel etc. For the channels they have added in last year or so is awesome. I watch METV and other channels I just paid my bill for the service and for under 100 dollars for the year is a great price for 40 channels and when I joined there was only 15 3 years ago. And I am watching First 48 on A&E

Frndly is a really great service. Yes the commercials are annoying but they are exactly the same as if you were watching on Direct tv and Frndly is much cheaper. The only issue I have is sometimes the things I record won’t play. I will have several episodes of a show and it will default to the first one over and over and if I delete the first one they all delete! Also I can find no customer service at all, so if anyone can help please let me know something. If you don’t need to record shows I would give it 5 stars easily, if you enjoy recording as I do then 3 1/2 stars. Thank you.

So over a year ago I started to use Frndly. Price was very fair and the interface was decent. Things seemed to work OK overall. However with any on-demand viewing, you cant FF or REW past commercials. DVR shows you certainly can. But to have to see the same dam 4-6 commercials during each show was just stupid. Frndly claims it's the network I am using for on-demand. I'm not sure either way but I had to stop using them for any on-demand due to the crappy commercial layout. Im ok with a few commercials but the same ones 4-6x in a row? Seriously?

Back then, tech support was fast. Online chat was great and email was answered promptly. No way to call anyone though, which is a joke. However, FF to recently and its all been downhill. They had a major outage awhile back (no explanation ever provided) and since then, the platform has been very slow to even start a show and tech support is vacant. No more chat and an email sent says "We are experiencing long times for support - please allow 10 business days" . Wow, seriously ? Thats 2 weeks to just get a reply from support? - Then, they raised pricing (like all of the other ripoff services) so sadly I paid for a year. I will not renew and made sure that auto-renew was disabled and a virtual CC is now on file with them which I suspended to prevent them from even trying to charge me at renewal. I find using virtual cards and suspending them is the only way to level the playing field with companies that pull this crap.

Lastly, if you use a ROKU enabled TV, good luck using this app. I have filed bug after bug for over 6mo and always told "We are still looking into it". I have provided video and screen shots. Short of fixing it myself, what more do they need? - No credit/refund or anything. The problem with Roku TVs is a lockup during playback, REW or FF freezing and the only way to regain some control is to back out of the app and try again. Oddly if I use an Apple 4K streaming box, I don't have those issues so that narrows it down to something with the App and Roku.

You're better off using someone else such as Philo. Yea it's more money each month but you have live support and even a phone number to call if any issues. They are very responsive to questions and understand how to take care of a customer.

I wonder if they either fired their support staff at Frndly or there was a mass exodus of staff. Something changed and not for the better. There are many billing and other issues reported online about Frndly so keep that in mind and stick to a monthly sub if your still hell bent to go with these people...

Frndly TV is just great live TV streaming services. They have all 3 Hallmark Channels. Frndly TV also has The Dove Channel that has all kinds of great movies on-demand that have no ads. I have Hulu+Live TV and Frndly TV is the perfect add-on to get channels that I love watching that most other live streaming services don't offer. I have not had any problems with Frndly TV. I think everyone should give Frndly TV a try. Frndly TV is pretty cheap in cost making it a great add-on to other live streaming services. I had Philo, but I like Frndly TV better and Frndly TV saves me money and with Frndly TV and Hulu+Live TV gives me all the channels that I am looking for. I just hope Frndly TV can stay on track and add more channels that no other streaming services offer. Thanks Frndly TV for offering a streaming service with a great picture.

If you want an affordable way to view some of the same channels that are featured on cable, with the added benefit of DVR -- which allows you to set recordings and watch them when you'd like -- then this is an excellent option. The issue is that there are certain inconveniences which should clearly be dealt with. First, if you rewind or fast forward, the screen gets darker for a number of seconds when you resume playing, and I want this annoying feature to go away, or to be shortened. I rewind to see something again, which is difficult when the screen is dim for several moments. Also, a Favorite Channels feature would be much appreciated, so that I could use the Guide on the TV to reach my favorite channels quickly, instead of using the Guide on a smartphone.

A very good service that can be great.

(EDIT) I have to give credit where it's due. Roku users can now remove dimming by pressing the back button, just like Amazon users. Of course, a lack of dimming would be best (I've definitely seen that on another app), but this is the next best thing, so I've increased my rating.

At the beginning, they had a good lineup. Now, they have changed good shows to early AM and decided to repeat other shows. Bad decision. I will drop them if they continue to do this. They have also deleted other shows that were good . Not happy.
