Crushing satan's head: The Virgin Mary’s Victory over the Antichrist Foretold in the Old Testament (New Old) Kindle Edition

The Virgin Mary's victory over the Antichrist is certain. She will crush his head. The Old Testament tells us this again and again and again -- that is, if read in the light of the New Testament, the light of Christ.

Crushing satan's head investigates twelve stories from the Old Testament which each point to the ultimate victory of the Mother of God, revealing that God's plan has always been the triumph of her Immaculate Heart. Together the various accounts contain the essential information we should know in order to play our part in this victory of good over evil -- for as it has pleased God to give glory to His Mother, so He wishes to give it to us too.

This book can be read on its own, but it builds on the foundation laid from all eternity, as explained in the first book of the series:
Adam's Deep Sleep: The Passion of Jesus Christ Prefigured in the Old Testament.

5 audio books New Old series Bible

Discover profound meaning in the lives of Old Testament figures. Christ speaks through their experiences so that these Saints can support us today even as the world seems to fall apart. You will be left with strong love and respect for the key characters. Listening to these recordings, with or without the corresponding text, soon immerses you into the ancient times and their present relevance.

  • Adams Deep Sleep: The Passion of Jesus Christ Prefigured in the Old Testament, 7 hours of listening to investigate how mystical sleeps in the Old Testament prefigure the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ on the tree of life, while their awakenings figure His Resurrection. The biblical accounts highlight the goods offered on the Cross, if embraced with devotion. Explore the supernatural connections between the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the rib from Adam's side, the door of Noah's ark, libations on the Levitical altar of holocaust, the honey from Samson's lion and the water which Ezekiel saw flowing from the east of the Temple.
  • Crushing satan’s head: The Virgin Mary’s Victory over the Antichrist Foretold in the Old Testament, [6 hours] places you alongside Judith and Jael, Rahab and Ruth, Esther and Eve, altogether a dozen Old Testament women, as they experience God's repeated promises that satan will lose in the end. This is Mary's work and we are called to share in it.
  • Crucifixion to Creation: Roots of the Traditional Mass Traced Back to Paradise, [13 hours] inspects elements of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass which reach back to the beginning of time, and because they culminate in the central event of all history -- the Crucifixion -- they will endure in Holy Mass to the end of time. These help us to enter God's eternity now in contemplation and later, please God, in soul and body. This audio book considers the meaning of the Temple in Jerusalem, the attacks on the traditional liturgy, yet how God's Plan cannot be uprooted from the world.
  • If You Believed Moses: The Conversion of the Jews Promised in the Old Testament (Volume 1), [7 hours] on how God had planned everything from the beginning that the Jewish people, our elder brothers currently at enmity with us, will repent, convert and be reconciled, just as Moses and Aaron, brothers, embrace with a kiss -- that is Christians and Jews unite at God's Holy Mountain. Learn through the prophets, writings and historical books that the veil will be removed from the hearts of the Jews and their blindness healed. And finally, how one woman bridges the two Covenants as a prefigurement of the Mother of God.
  • If You Believed Moses: The Conversion of the Jews Promised as the Close of History (Volume 2), [10 hours] is available through a quick internet search.

Explore the Beauty and Richness of the Old Testament Scriptures and Traditions and the Urgency of God's Eternal Word for Today

The author opens the Old Testament, showing in the light of Christ truths and insights new and old. This series of books brings the profound understanding of the Church Fathers close to us, discovering exciting depths in the dramas of the ancient Scriptures -- stories far richer and more beautiful than we might previously have guessed. This ancient patristic understanding of how to read the Bible is also needful to guide us through our own disorientating times, to reach unto the end in grace, both as individuals and for the Church as a whole.

You can read the books in any order, although following the order of publication is recommended: ADS, Csh, CtC, IYBM1, and available elsewhere, IYBM2.

In brief, what is each book about?

Adam's Deep Sleep

Crushing satan's head

Crucifixion to Creation

If You Believe Moses Volume 1

Your Passion is Here Too

Does the world seem confused? Do you have pain, or sorrow, or perplexity? The Cross alone makes sense of everything.

Adam's Deep Sleep shows how characters from the OT - famous and not so famous - carried the cross, as each of us must. Their mysterious biblical 'sleeps' all point to the Passion of Christ. So do our lives -- and if we sleep in Christ, we will wake with Him.

We also find in the OT what it is that flows from His Sacred Heart in the Blood and water, namely: the Church, the Saints, the Sacraments, Wisdom and grace. And all these are the same, for they are God's love.

Nothing to Fear

Worried about the Antichrist? Don't be. He is no match for the Mother of God, who crushes him, and employs us to join her.

Be encouraged by details of the Virgin Mary's triumph over evil: in the cosmos, in your life, and in history.

Crushing satan's head draws these truths from where God long ago laid them down, the Old Testament. More than a dozen OT women are seen to have participated in this victory in advance so that we may do likewise. Their different approaches all guide us to Mary.

Eat from the Tree of Life

Why is the traditional Mass being suppressed? Because it is the Tree of Life.

The serpent wanted Eve and Adam to eat from the tree. But Jesus turned evil on its head. Now the last thing the devil wants is for us to eat the fruit from the true Tree of Life, namely, the Holy Eucharist.

Crucifixion to Creation shows satan's lies are hopeless -- the goods of Holy Mass are for eternity. The lamb, the altar, the cross and light combine to draw us to the immutable pattern which is divine self-sacrifice, the Holy Trinity. All this is safeguarded by invincible Tradition.

Where is Your Brother?

How do you react if your elder brother keeps trying to take your life? Christ opens the Old Testament to show us how the struggles of Cain and Abel, Ishmael and Isaac, Esau and Jacob, and Israel's sons can be overcome by sacrifice until they reach a harmony much better than that which Moses and Aaron knew.

Without this understanding, the Church will fall victim to the Synagogue. Meek Moses, the friend of God, prepares us to hear sweet Jesus, the Son of God. The way is open, If You Believed Moses.

Born in 1973, James Mawdsley grew up in Lancashire, England. During 17 months of solitary confinement as a prisoner of conscience in Burma (in 1998 and 1999-2000), he received the Bible which helped turn his cell from “hell to heaven”, beginning a passion for studying Scripture.

From 2003 to 2004 he served as Secretariat to the British-North Korean All-Party Parliamentary Group, sitting in on high-level political-military meetings in Pyongyang and London. Having met former prisoners and guards who had defected, Mawdsley’s priority in arranging these exchanges was to challenge the North Korean government for their gulag system.

Slowly realising the futility of political attempts to overcome evil unless Jesus Christ is honoured as King of Kings, Mawdsley was surprised on 3rd September 2005 by a crystal-clear call to the priesthood. Fr Mawdsley was ordained a Catholic priest in 2016, celebrating the traditional Roman rite only.

His New Old book series, a discovery of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament read in the light of the New, is offered both for spiritual nourishment and to address the problem of evil: personal (our own sin), global (look around!) and cosmic (satan). Christus vincit!

With great clarity of thought and attention to detail Fr. Mawdsley sifts through the old testament to reveal the story within the story. While a beginning student of the bible can certainly benefit, experienced students will add depth to their understanding of the scriptures. In Matt 13: 10-17 Jesus speaks about parables, I realized years ago that the entirety of the bible is written in parable form and I, like the Ethiopian eunuch needed someone to explain it to me, until I found Fr Mawdsley's book. Needless to say, I will be reading them all.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!!!

This book is really good and easy to read the way it is written. I think the author made it easy to understand for us common people. He explains how the stories in Old Testament represent Jesus and Mary.

I love the analysis/study of the prefigurements of the women from the beginning in the Garden of Eden (Eve) in the Old Testament to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross with Jesus at Calvary in the New Testament. I wanted to understand the Old Testament and its meaning to the New and I was not disappointed. If you want to learn the connections of these strong spiritual women in the historical stories as “types” of the Blessed Virgin Mary showing the patterns of God in His decision-making, you will see clearly the assurance of Christ’s victory against evil, this is a must read! The victory has not yet been fulfilled but in God’s perfect timing, evil will be crushed by His Most Holy Blessed Mother! Highly recommended read.

Absolute must read for all Christians, especially those that don’t understand Mary’s role in salvation history and and in the triumph of the Lamb at the end of time. The significance of women, and especially the Woman, is presented with penetrating clarity through Scripture

5.0 out of 5 stars An Original, Unique Book on Mary and Prophecy

I've never read the Old Testament books in such deep introspection on Mary. I was unable to see the connections Father Maudsley has pulled together with his 'genius writing style'. After reading now three of his books and learning of how he stood up for Eucharistic reverence during COVID, how he truthfully knows how to address communism, I'd actually like Father himself to be the next Pope and I pray he will! He's on my best read list.

This book offers an intensive study on crucial female characters in the Old Testament, who in different ways point to Our Lady. The great importance of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary and her victory over the antichrist becomes evident. Especially suitable for women!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why you should read it
Reviewed in Canada on May 22, 2023
Father Mawdsley has written a brilliant series of books which, in my opinion, can help two different audiences.

Some Catholics believe that the Old Testament tells you what not to do and the New Testament tells you what to do. As a result, they tend not to read the Old Testament, reasoning that we know enough and should focus on the New.

Many Protestants believe that Catholics misinterpret the New Testament and dwell too much on the Sacrifice. The 'changes' to the Catholic Mass instituted in the 1970s were designed to downplay the Sacrifice so as to make the Mass more acceptable to Protestants.

This series of books destroys those myths by showing how intricately linked the Old and New Testaments are. Father demonstrates how important the Sacrifice was in the Old Testament and details how it prefigured the Sacrifice of Christ. This provides a scriptural proof of how important the Mass is. As a result, this demonstration illustrates how the Traditional Latin Mass does a better job of giving glory to God and continuously re-presents the Sacrifice of Christ. What you pray determines what you believe, so a Mass which focuses on the Sacrifice helps us to reflect on what Christ has done for us, on the necessity of the priest, and on the importance of the Traditional Teaching of the Church.

Father Mawdsley's book on Our Lady similarly beautifully shows why she is important and how her role was pre-figured in the Old Testament. Catholics are not making this up and honouring her does not detract from the worship due to God.

For people who want more information about the series and about this excellent priest, check out his Youtube channel by searching for "ScriptureandTraditionFrJM".

If anyone is concerned that the fourth book can be pre-ordered only on kindle, don't be. The other formats will be available when the book launches, volume one June 30th and volume two November 19th.

The whole series is a must for anyone serious about giving glory to God in the way God has willed. Note also that the first two books appear with the author as James Mawdsley. The next two appear with the author as Fr James Mawdsley.
