Lobo (The Lobo Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition

Being raised by wolves wasn't a nightmare. It was practice.

In this fast-paced Western, a gunslinger with a savage past reluctantly teams up with a young orphan girl to avenge the murder of the padre who saved them both.

As Lobo hunts the seven killers, he will uncover long-buried secrets, help a good woman in a bad situation, and maybe even do something a surly loner like Lobo wouldn’t have thought possible… fall in love.

Lobo is a classic Western with a touch of romance. It’s perfect for fans of C.J. Petit and R.O. Lane.

“John Deacon writes the kind of Westerns I like to read—gritty and fun with lots of heart.” — Don Bentley, New York Times Bestselling author of the Matt Drake series and Tom Clancy Jack Ryan, Jr. novels

I was born six months before man landed on the moon. I was blessed to grow up in the country, where my family lived largely off the land.

When I wasn’t fishing, exploring the woods, or weeding the garden, I devoured comic books like Two-Gun Kid and The Rawhide Kid before moving on to the exciting adventure stories of Jack London and Louis L’Amour.

Our black-and-white TV got three channels, though you could lose one and pick up another if you went outside and messed with the antenna. On its grainy screen, we watched Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and movies starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

Now a husband and father, I love exploring the West and reading history and fiction alike. My favorite authors are Louis L’Amour, Elmore Leonard, C.J. Petit, and R.O. Lane.

As a writer, I hope to entertain you with fun stories of the old West. My good guys are good, my bad guys are bad, and you’ll always find a touch of romance to sweeten the grit.

John Deacons, The Lobo Trilogy Book 1, is an enjoyable old western tale that I really found hard to put down. It is far different from most westerns I have read and requires a little suspension of reality to buy into, but I was fascinated and found it a compelling read.

After a long absents, Lobo returns to the mission where he meets a 10-year-old orphan named “Tilly” (Matilda) who had buried Padre Emilio Martinez. Tilly had witnessed 7 evil men murder the priest while she hid under a wagon. This priest had rescued Lobo from a man that had captured young Lobo who was raised by wolves and was part of their pack. The man killed all the wolves in the pack and made money displaying Lobo in a cage and making him fight wild animals and grown men. Teaching and raising Lobo, the Priest was the only family he had ever know besides the wolves.

Over the years, Lobo set out on his own and became a formidable warrior with weapons band his fists. When Lobo vowed to hunt down and bring the killers to justice, little Tilly made him promise to take her with him. He did so because she knew many of the killer’s names, identity, and whereabouts.

Along the way and looking to water their horses, Tilly and Logo found themselves on the wrong end of a scatter gun when mistaken for the hired killer who was trying to run widower, Hannah Miles off her land.
As the story unfolds, an unlikely relationship began to develop between Logo, Hannah, and Tilly as Logo begins his mission.

This action-packed, 226-page, and enthralling tale was a quick and easy read that left me wanting to read the second in the series immediately. I recommend this tale to those who like well-written and fast-paced, old western tales that a hard to put down.

While the background of Lobo is far-fetched, his moral compass and journey towards becoming a godly man are traits we all applaud, since it speaks equally to our journey. The story line keeps the reader hooked from beginning to end. Well done.

This is definitely one of the best Westerns I have ever read. If I could give 100 stars, I would!

John Deacon is a great writer. I can’t wait to read all of his books. I’ve already read the entire series about Heck. I didn’t want it to end.

Lobo is a very interesting character. Raised with wolves and a fast draw, he can’t be beaten. I (almost) pity the man who crosses him or someone he loves. He will make them pay. All of the characters, whether good or bad, are interesting. With the well written descriptive words of the author, I could visualize everything.

I can’t wait another minute to read the next book so here I go….

When I read the titlé and the description of. Lobo I thought to myself this. Will be a big joke. But thankfully I did read it because it didn't take long to see that was got to be very interesting story. I will read the follow-up stories because like anyone else I want know how the series ends.
Good job John Deacon.

This western was entertaining in an unusual way. The protagonist was raised by wolves. Now outside of ancient Romans I don't know if anyone who would find that believable. But Romulus and Reamus aside, the action Drives the plot and the characters likeable. I'd buy book two just to see how everything ends.
