Stranger With A Star: Classic Old West Adventure (A Jack Sage Western Book 1) Kindle Edition

Six-shooters blazing. Bad guys closing in. When the dust settles, will he be the last man standing?

Jack Sage can’t let injustice pass. So as the Civil War veteran rides north toward the Rocky Mountains, he doesn’t hesitate to help an ambushed newspaperman. But just as they reach the tiny Texas town they’re headed for, the loner’s inner rage ignites when a homesteader is gunned down in cold blood in front of his wife and kids.

Reluctantly taking the job of marshal due to the tears of the innocents, Jack throws the guilty man in jail and starts cleaning up the lawless settlement. But between corrupt saloon owners and rough swindlers, the principled gunfighter may have bitten off more than he can chew.

Can he bring order to people in need, or will he end up in an early grave?

Stranger With A Star is the exciting first book in the Jack Sage Western series. If you like honest heroes, character-driven drama, and thrilling shootouts, then you’ll love Donald L. Robertson’s wild ride into the sunset.

Donald L. Robertson is a writer of novels and short stories about the American West. His first novel, Logan’s Word, is set in West Texas near Coleman, where he graduated from high school. Robertson strives to make his books as historically accurate as possible.

He was born in Louisiana but grew up in Texas and New Mexico. He has lived in many parts of Texas and has a love of the West.

Professionally, he enjoyed the life of a pilot, flying throughout the West, enjoying his last ten years of flying while living in Arizona. His travels gave him the opportunity to learn about, and fall in love with, the country about which he would later write.

As a boy, he spent many Saturdays at the movie matinees. He revelled in all of the Western adventures, especially those of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Lash LaRue.

As a youngster, he shared his passion for reading westerns with one of his loving aunts who had a huge library of western novels. This is where he came to love the books of Zane Grey and the short stories and books of Louis L'Amour. The influence of these authors color Robertson's novels, assuring that they are wholesome and adventurous, filled with action and good values which can be enjoyed by any member of the family.

He began his writing in Cotacachi, a little mountain village nestled between two dormant volcanoes in Ecuador. Due to health reasons, a move from the high mountains of the Andes was necessary. Don, his sweet wife Paula, and their six pound Chihuahua guard dog have moved back to the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Today Don lives and writes in Mesa, Arizona.

This is Don Robertson's BEST Western!

This is Don Robertson's BEST Western!
The Jack Sage Western was so good, I couldn't put it down until I reached the end. So many unexpected twists and turns that I really enjoyed. It is well written and kept my full attention through the entire book. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves Westerns. Most old Western's on TV and in Books always leave me feeling good that the good guy triumphs over evil in the end. So many recent TV programs and books just focus on blood, gore, sex and cussing along with over the top violence. I can read a Don Robertson Western and then recommend it to family and friends with no apprehension that they are going to encounter trashy parts. I love that! Thanks Don Robertson!

This is the first time I’ve enjoyed reading a Donald L. Robertson western … but it will definitely not be the last! I enjoyed his characters, his story-line and his smooth delivery of action, adventure and “grit”.
I took a chance on downloading this book, and I’m very pleased with the results.
Do yourself a favor, and give this book, and author “a chance” … I’m certainly pleased with my choice.

An action filled western with a reluctant lone town tamer hired to clean up a troubled Texas town. It's a great roaring story with elements of mystery and suspense. Jack Sage is not your average cowboy, having see the elephant in conflicts across the world and already cleaned up an infamous Texas border town he's just passing through when he finds an innocent man in trouble. Doing the right thing lands him in a powder keg between a greedy rancher, a town and Comanche raiders. The only thing Jack can do is rely on his past experience and do what needs to be done. Jack is hard as the rocky ground he walks on and with the help of those he's befriended he's going to do what he's set out to do, even if it's father then many may expect. It's a great tale and Jack is an interesting character. I haven't yet met a Don Robertson book I haven't completely enjoyed and this book doesn't disappoint at all. It's a great read.

I like a good Western; one that has action, good characters, and a good storyline. This novel hits on all three. The characters are well thought out and fairly well developed. That is, all but the main protagonist. I wanted more about the man Jack Sage, especially as he does some super-human type stuff. I was also disappointed in the final chapter and the final action scene. It needed resolution, but was over in a page or two. So I had to ding the rating. A 4.4 out of 5 rating.

Jack Sage just stepped in it! You know the feeling- you’re moseying ’ along and just step in something you’d have rightly strode around if you ‘d only noticed it first. But…. now you’ve GOT to deal with it…..stink or no…..deal with it.

My first Donald Robertson book which has already prompted me to purchase the next two in this series as well as the 4th book coming out in July (I think). This was a great story with action from the first several pages to the very end. I couldn’t put it down! While the story kept you guessing all questions were answered by the end of the final chapter. I highly recommend this book! Douglje
