I've been researching robot mowers for a few months, as my neighbors and friends have mentioned that most of them are essentially just machines. Particularly, those that come with a physical boundary seem to lack intelligence, simply performing automatic and random tasks within a designated area. I once saw a friend showing off his robot mower, but it had a large antenna sticking in the backyard, which didn't blend in with the surroundings. After conducting my research online and watching numerous YouTube videos, I finally made a decision and bought the Dreame A1.
In general, I am quite happy with the robotic mower Dreame A1.
1. The installation went on quite smoothly, nothing needs to be plugged into the yard, no physical cord needs to be done.
2. The linear cutting pattern is quite soothing. After the grass is mowed, it creates a peaceful atmosphere, reminiscent of a well-manicured soccer field.
3. Smart enough to get around of people, pets and small obstacles e.g. football and gate in the yard.
4. Basically, quite efficient in grass cutting, get my backyard done within in an hour.
5. The industrial design looks very sleek and gives off a high-tech vibe. Unlike traditional garden tools, its appearance exudes a futuristic aesthetic.
I think the room for improvement would be:
- In the next two years, I plan to move from my current neighborhood to a larger house on a hill, which will certainly have steep slopes and an uneven lawn. In the next version, I would prefer a four-wheel-drive model with more powerful blades.

First off, QA needs some work. Product came with the power block in the base not screwed in. Another small cosmetic issue with the lip of the base station is not completely
Past that this unit works incredibly well with the right settings.
= if you have a bumpy/rolling lawn and/or tall grass you will need to set obstacle avoidance height to 20cm or it will not mow correctly =
Takes way less time to set up than any other mower. I could have just added some no go zones to areas with sand that it would get stuck in, but once I understood it's limitations I ended up just re-mapping and it's been running for a week without getting stuck.
Adding more areas is easy and it automatically sets a schedule for you.
I've added a video to give you an idea of how bumpy it is. Straight lines no problem.
Saw someone else pulling their hair out in reviews because they don't have the obstacle avoidance height at the right setting.. once this is correct the mower is flawless.

I bought this robotic lawn mower because I want to keep the grass on my side yard short throughout the week for my boys to practice their lacrosse skills on. Being in Florida the grass grows 3 plus inches in a week during the summer making it a poor playing field in a few days. I have weekly lawn service but by midweek the grass is deep and spongy, not making it a great surface to play on.
Setup took an hour or so but straight forward. Make sure you watch the videos as this is a big help with setup. You need to map the yard manually with the robot for the first time. If you take your time, you can really get to the edges of the lawn. It took me a few times to map it to where I was happy, but it’s rock solid now. Mapping is all done with the robotic lawnmower and the Dreame app…very smooth process to map the area. What I like about A1 robotic lawnmower is that you do not need to mark off your yard with beacon sticks or an antenna etc. to map it. Unlike other robotic lawnmowers I researched before I bought the A1 other robotic lawnmowers requires beacon sticks or antennas to mark the cutting area which sounds like a hassle.
The lawnmower cut a little over 2000 ft.² in about an hour and a half. It’s not superfast, but it does the job without me doing the work. I was impressed on how fast the unit charges...went from 20% to fully charged in an hour or so. You can adjust the height of the cutting blades either on the mower or in the app which is convenient. The menu on board the unit is pretty easy to follow as well. I’m super happy with the unit as it does what I need it to do. The boys always have a nice side yard to play on throughout the week. One suggestion for the manufacturer would be to include a cover for the robot and charging station to help protect it from the outside elements when not in use.
