So, I also have the Samsung Q990C, which cost TWICE as much as the Vizio. In my opinion, the Vizio is every bit as good, if not better than the Samsung. The Vizio has MUCH better overall control over the settings, and a MUCH better subwoofer. When watching movies, the Samsung does have somewhat better effects over the Vizio, but if you're going to be playing music as well, the Vizio has far better sound. The Vizio's only real drawback would be that the rear speakers are connected to the sub, which could make placement a challenge. The Samsung rears are wireless, but need an electrical outlet for power, so you'll still have placement issues with them..and the Samsung rears just don't perform as well as the Vizio. If you're considering the Samsung, be aware, the included subwoofer SUCKS, so much so that Samsung should give every customer a replacement that actually has some bass. The Vizio elevate subwoofer, on the other hand, has a solid punch to it, you'll find you actually need to turn it down, not up. So, if you can deal with the wired rear speakers, I feel the Vizio is a much better system overall, and for less than half the cost of the 990C. If the 990C had a decent subwoofer, it would be worth the $1500 price tag, but with the sub that's included, it's a poor choice, and you'd likely be returning it once you hear it in your home. If you're looking for the best sound quality for your money, I don't think you can do better than the Elevate, especially when you catch it on sale in the $500 range. At that price, you're getting an outstanding soundbar that plays movies AND music beautifully, for 1/3 the price of the over hyped, VERY over rated Samsung. 5 stars.
