    Pros and Cons
Pro: My screnshot speaks for itself, it does exactly what you want it to do. On the first use, it figured out my oven: 1. fails to reach setpoint, 2. fails to keep re-lighting after a while. No wonder baking was a pain. It is amazing to just kick back and play a game while your phone graphs the cook going on in the oven and you don't have to do any babysitting at all.Con: If it wasn't so good at what it does, I would throw it in the trash because I hate the app so much. Like any other device app today, it throws in tons of stuff you don't want, practically making you take a survey every time you want to use the thermometer.

We've gone through many of the highly recommended thermometers and recently decided to try this out out. Good decision on our part. Its everything we were expecting and are quite happy with the purchase.

I've included a picture of the unboxing to capture the premium feel that comes with this thermometer. The packaging is designed well, with a sleek graphics and nice feel. The probe itself feels substantial and had more heft than many of other flimsy thermometers on the market. No need to worry about accidentally hitting a bone and bending it.

The readings are consistent and accurate so you can feel confident that your meal wont be ruined by a false reading. Because its wireless you will not lose heat by opening your oven, grill or smoker to do a temperature check. No more temperature fluctuations causing uneven cooking or prolonged cook times.

Using the app is simple and allows you to dictate your amount of integration into the Yummly ecosystem. Keep it simple with just a temp and time reading, or leverage Yummly's full suite of offerings, its up to you.

One obvious trade off vs some of the other popular thermometers is that there is no visible temperature on the probe. You are tied to your phone as the only readout. Not a bad thing, just a thing.

Update I contacted customer service and they asked a few questions and sent me a replacement within a couple days!

I used this 4 or 5 times. Then the thermometer wouldn't pair to the base. Tried new batteries and let it charge for 60 minutes and nothing. Unscrewed the top from the thermometer and the circuit board is all cooked and melted. This has not cooked more than 400 degrees and should not be melted.
I have contacted the company to see if they replace it.

I purchased this a year ago and used it once and then every time I tried to use it I would have to put new batteries in it and let it charge. Then I couldn't ever get it to connect. Tried and failed numerous times and had given up thinking it was a bad product and I wasted my money. I decided to try technical support and after short conversation and couple of things to check for them they sent me a new one. I use it couple times a week and have not had any issues with it connecting and I haven't had to change the batteries since I received it. I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend to anyone.

The Yummly thermometer itself works well. The app is annoying. It constantly wants you to use their recipes and makes it difficult to just use the thermometer. Additionally, I recently had a problem where the thermometer would not connect with the app. I went on Amazon and clicked on the product support link which takes you to Kitchen Aid. They say that they no longer provide support for Yummly. When you try to contact Yummly you cannot talk to anyone, only send them an email. Thanks for making it so easy to get help. I’ll find a different company to purchase my next smart thermometer from.

I purchased this May 2021 and have used it next to a Meater for comparisons. The app is the worst in terms of pushing so many recipes and seems to treat the sensor as just a side tab. Operation wasn't super hard, but I like the other app better. It also reads temperatures strangely high for external, however the top part of the unit started to disintegrate around mid-2022 when this happened. It died a couple weeks ago and I have followed all the troubleshooting steps and looks like phone to dock via blue tooth was fine, but the probe itself seems to have died and is not responsive in the pairing operation. As with all these meters, important not to wet or especially submerge the meter in water, that will kill them quickly. Treating the sensors with respect seems to have helped alot, the meater is still working however is pretty consistently 1-2 earlier than what the Yummly would say for the same temperatures. In all, not a bad sensor really, the app was the biggest annoyance and hope they change their approach in the future.

I got this as a gift for my fiancé and he absolutely loves it. We were able to cook a Thanksgiving turkey and prime rib to perfection with this thermometer. The device is linked through an app called Yummly which also offers many recipes as well as recommendations for cooking meats. You can set the app to notify you when your food of choice has met its desired temp. It will even notify you when to remove it from heat to allow it to reach the desired temperature. The thermometer has a very simple set up and is user friendly.
