The Breeders’ Cup prep season is in full gear as the second weekend of August approaches, with three “Win and You’re In” races on the calendar, two in the U.S. and one in France.

The upcoming week in North American horse racing promises plenty of excitement, with graded stakes scheduled at Saratoga Race Course each day from Thursday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 4, the induction of a fine 2024 class to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 2, and the pièce de résistance, the $1 million, Grade 1 Whitney Stakes, set for Saturday, Aug. 3.

The Jockey Club announced July 24 the speakers for its 72nd Annual Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing to be held Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. ET at the Excelsior Springs Event Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. It will also be livestreamed on The Jockey Club's website jockeyclub.com. Stuart Janney III, chairman of The Jockey Club, will preside over the conference.

Summer racing is officially in full swing now that Del Mar has opened on the West Coast to join Saratoga Race Course back East, and the upcoming weekend is filled with top-quality action at those two venues and elsewhere.

The upcoming weekend in horse racing is highlighted by the $1 million NYRA Bets Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park, an important race in sorting out the 3-year-old division and also a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Nov. 2 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.
