How to fix your iPhone alarm not going off

If your iPhone alarm isn’t going off, try these fixes to make sure you wake up on time:

Turn off Attention Aware features

If you’re using Attention Aware features, available on iPhone X and later, your iPhone will automatically lower sound alerts and dim the display screen when you’re not looking at your phone. This can cause your alarm to ring silently. Here’s how to turn it off:

  1. Open Settings > Face ID & Attention
  2. Slide the Attention Aware Features switch to off (gray).

Check volume settings

  1. Open Settings > Sounds & Haptics
  2. If the sound of alerts is muted or set to the lowest volume, increase it by moving the slider to the right.
  3. Make sure the mute switch is turned off.

Turn off Do Not Disturb mode

  1. Open your Control Center.
  2. Look next to the crescent moon icon. If Do Not Disturb is On, alarms will be silenced. Tap the icon to turn it off.

Check alarm settings

  1. Open the Clock app and tap Alarms
  2. Double-check your alarm settings to confirm that the correct time, sound, and repeat options are selected.

Update your software

Make sure your iPhone software is up to date.

Restart your device

A simple restart may solve your alarm issue. Hold down the Power button for a few seconds, then give your device about 30 seconds to power down before turning it back on.
