Man believed to have vandalized Rainbow Crosswalk arrested after barricade
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - Atlanta Police say they have arrested the man they believe is responsible for painting a swastika on the Rainbow Crosswalk at 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue.
Police went to the man’s apartment at around noon Friday. Investigators were initially unsuccessful in making contact and the SWAT team was called to the scene.

Eventually, the man notified the police that he was exiting the apartment and he was taken into custody.

Atlanta Police Department investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a person responsible for vandalizing the Rainbow Crosswalk in Midtown.
For the second time in as many days, Atlanta’s Rainbow Crosswalks was vandalized. Police say on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a male spray painting the rainbow crosswalk at 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue NE. Surveillance video showed a male enter the crosswalk and spray paint a swastika before walking away.
Then on Friday, officers were called to the intersection of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue NE for another incident of someone painting a swastika on the rainbow crosswalk. Surveillance video also captured images of a male.
Investigators believe the same man is responsible for these two incidents. There were also similar incidents in the area and investigators are working to determine if the same man was involved.

The historic Buckhead Theatre was also vandalized overnight.
Atlanta Police tells us they got a call around 1:30 a.m. and when they arrived, they found the front windows were busted out.
Officers say someone who was intoxicated smashed them. They were taken into custody. No word on what charges they are facing.
The windows have since been boarded up and they expect to have the glass replaced by Friday evening.
