The summer Olympics take place in Paris this year, which got us thinking about our favorite "French" things. Sure, baguettes and champagne are great, but nothing compares to the excellence of a good french fry. (How French is a french fry, actually? Though perhaps in name only, the association still had us salivating.)

And with National French Fry Day on Friday, July 12, just two weeks before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, our French Fry Face-Off felt meant to be.

Not all french fries are created equal. Even among the myriad of styles, from classic to sweet potato to crinkle-cut and everything in between, some stand above the rest. (It doesn't hurt when they come loaded with carne asada, either.)

But french fries are a polarizing subject. Is a tater tot a french fry? Should they be doused in sauce or dipped? Do shoestring or steak fries reign supreme?

We want to hear from you. Help us find out who makes the best fries in metro Phoenix, and we'll put it to a vote.

Nominate your favorite fries for the French Fry Face-Off

Phoenix's best fries could come from a hamburger restaurant, a bar, a food truck or anywhere, really. The only rule: it must be a local establishment. We are not looking for the best fast-food fry, though we know you have opinions on those, too.

Just tell us the name of the restaurant and what type of fry it is. And as a bonus, feel free to share what you dip your fries in.
