A reward has been set up to identify the person suspected of fatally shooting a man in early May in west Phoenix.

William Ray White, 40, was walking behind a business complex around 6:30 p.m. May 5 in the area just south of McDowell Road and North 47th Avenue when he was approached by the suspect and shot dead, according to a Silent Witness flyer.

The suspect — described as a 30-40-year-old Hispanic or Native American man with a medium build, possibly dark-colored hair — was on a white bicycle when he pulled out a handgun and killed White, the Silent Witness flyer detailed. The flyer described the assailant as wearing a black baseball cap with a white logo on front, a gray-hooded sweatshirt, a dark-colored shirt, a circular pendant necklace and black athletic shorts. He fled by bike northbound on 47th and was last spotted in the area of 48th Avenue and McDowell, the flyer added.

Silent Witness is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for tipsters, including those filing anonymously, who have information leading to the arrest or conviction of the suspect. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377), or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish. Tipsters may remain anonymous at silentwitness.org.
