In 2023, Be My Eyes partnered with Sky to provide accessible visual assistance to customers across Ireland who are blind or have low vision. Since then, lots of Be My Eyes users have reached out to Sky to receive visual assistance with a variety of tasks. This is the story of two of them: Stuart and Jackie!

Stuart’s Story

Stuart lives in Dublin and he is Head of Digital Content for a specialist provider of accessibility technology in the UK and Ireland. He is blind since birth, and he has been using Be My Eyes for many years to receive assistance from both volunteers and company representatives. In a recent call with Sky, he successfully set up his new Sky Stream Box with the assistance of a Sky agent through Service Directory.

“If you haven’t contacted Sky before through the Be My Eyes app or indeed if you haven’t used Service Directory in general, I strongly recommend doing so. The people you are speaking to are aware of the specialized support they need to deliver, so you are going to have people who are trained and who know exactly what our community requires” - Stuart, Be My Eyes User from Ireland

Jackie’s Story

Jackie lost her sight 29 years ago. Since then, technology has come a long way, and she has been using new technologies to enhance her independence. In the past months, she has called Sky through Be My Eyes many times to receive visual specialized assistance with tasks including getting a description of her tv screen, identifying LED colors on her Sky Stream Box and pressing the right buttons on her remote.

“The people at Sky are simply amazing and the patience they have is unreal. There’s no frustration, you’re not feeling annoyed. It’s been a game changer for me. I wouldn’t leave Sky because of the service that they are offering.” - Jackie, Be My Eyes User from Sligo.

Sky representatives are available on Be My Eyes Service Directory for our Irish community, from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. The service is available in English. Reaching out to a Sky agent is easy: choose Service Directory in the homepage of the app, select “technical” and click on Sky to open their profile. From here, you can start a call and get connected with one of their agents. You can also visit Sky’s profile on Be My Eyes by accessing this link: https://profiles.bemyeyes.com/catalog/sky
