What are your thoughts on the Eastern Orthodox churches? Based on my understanding of them most are almost or entirely free of convergence even to this day, exceptions being the Greek and Ukrainian ones.

I have heard that Jesus promised his church would survive to the end times. If I'm not mistaken in how I understood that, I wonder if the Orthodox church is the actual fulfillment of that promise.

@JL - They aren't in the West, and that is my concern. Eastern Orthodox churches in The West are just a kind of holding operation for recent immigrants, usually with mutli-ethnic, multi-lingual, infrequent services and nothing much else. Even in their heartlands (e.g. Russia, Romania, Serbia) where Orthodoxy is thriving, the government is secular, republican - and Orthodoxy depends on a harmony between a ruling Monarch and the church.
