It is very important NOT to look at the sun during an eclipse - because the sun is (somehow) much MORE dangerous to your eyes during an eclipse than AT ANY OTHER TIME!* ..Presumably ('tho' the teacher didn't actually say this); when the sun is partly blocked by the moon, it focuses sunlight onto your retina like a magnifying glass onto an ant. *This is why an eclipse should only be viewed through at least five superimposed black and white photographic negatives, left-over from Teacher's holiday snaps.
