You've likely described the future of Christianity.

@E - Yes. I find that an encouraging thought.

Do you think the radical success of Christianity caught Heaven by surprise? Some of the Gospels seem to suggest they all thought it was the End Times. I know it's heretical, but if free will is truly unpredictable...

@E - I've never thought about it - but I'm not sure about your premises that Christianity was a radical success or that your idea of Heavenly surprise would be heretical!

@ Bruce - I still hold that 'secret hope' as the most dearest yearning in my heart. I long for a world in which it is neither a secret or a hope but a lived reality. A world where we can love each other fully as brothers and sisters, as children of God, living in creative harmony in Gods kingdom in extended families with true and enduring friendships. A place of fullest joy. A place where sin and worldy evil are no longer there to hound my daily consciousness and to spoil and corrupt all that is good. The world we live in is wearisome because of its claustrophobic denial of all things spiritual. Still, I have much to learn presumably, whilst I am here, otherwise our maker would have arranged for me to check out a while ago. In the meanwhile that yearning still persists. I know so few others that seriously share the same hope and dont dismiss it as folly as the world. I take comfort in knowing that I am not alone, albeit in a tiny minority. An uplifting post.

A common Eastern idea is that a teacher of high consciousness raises the consciousness of willing students by nonverbal teaching, or even by his mere presence. I think Christianity is no different. Jesus' apostles, and many other people he encountered, reached genuine enlightenment through him, and the words he spoke were only a small part of what he wrought. Because, as you know, the highest levels of consciousness come only from direct knowing. The future of Christianity holds more and more people teaching as Jesus did, and over time the verbal modality will become both less crucial and, eventually, barely useful.

@Jonathan - I don't this this way of teaching is effective anymore; we need to be conscious of what we do, and actively choose it - or else it will be counterproductive. The reasons are given by Owen Barfield (or Rudolf Steiner, in Philosophy of Freedom).
