BuzzFeedCommunity

Guidelines

BuzzFeed Community is the home for awesome comments and posts created by BuzzFeeders. If you like to make your own quizzes about your favorite TV show or movie, weigh in on the latest celeb controversy, or just create a masterpiece about your favorite pop culture topics, then this is the place for you! To become a part of BuzzFeed’s Community, all you need to do is sign up for an account!
Before you sign up, you should be aware of our Rules and Guidelines. We have just a handful of rules that we outline below, and we’ll break them down. And remember, BuzzFeed Community is subject to BuzzFeed’s general User Agreement, which you can check out here.
1. Community Is Not For Self-Promotion
Community is a place for you to share what you love with others. It’s not a place for self-promotion. Self-promotion on Community means creating an account, comment, or post that is at all promoting a brand, organization, company, client, blog, YouTube channel, political candidate/issue, or project with which you’re associated out of self-interest. As much as we believe in your awesomeness, Community isn’t the platform for highlighting it.
2. Community Is Not A Place For You To Make Money
We know that you’re enterprising and that some sites allow you to write promotional articles for other people and businesses for a fee. Community is not the platform to feature those articles. If they are spotted, your account will be deleted.
3. Community Is Not A Place For You To Use Others’ Content Without Permission
Community wants you to feature your own original expression — not someone else’s. So please, whether it be text, photos, GIFs, etc., post only content that you have the rights to post. Plagiarism is prohibited, and users may not publish content on BuzzFeed that has been previously published elsewhere. For more guidance on acceptable images to use in Community posts, consult our Ultimate Guide To Making A BuzzFeed Post.
4. Community Is Not A Place To Try Your Hand At Reporting
BuzzFeed is an entertainment platform and Community is not soliciting reported or political news articles. News reports, articles, or comments featuring false news information will be deleted.
5. Community Is Not A Place To Wage A War
Community is a place to bring people together, not push them apart. To that end, you may not post anything threatening, harassing, defamatory, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another’s privacy, tortious, vulgar, or pornographic. We encourage respectful user interaction and strictly prohibit hate speech, bullying, and personal attacks. If you’re waging a war, please wage it somewhere else.
6. Community Is Not A Place For PR Professionals To Plug Clients
We get it, everybody has a job to do. But, if you’re a PR professional posting something to Community that is intended to promote a client or paying someone to do the same thing, you’re violating our rules.
7. Community Is Not A Place For Spam
Spammy posts are against our guidelines and will result in account deletion. Once we’ve removed an account and its posts, we won’t be able to recover them!
8. Community Is Subject To BuzzFeed’s User Agreement
This part is important: BuzzFeed Community is subject to BuzzFeed’s User Agreement. Please read the User Agreement now. Those rules are important — please note that BuzzFeed reserves the right to deactivate any account that violates these rules or the rules in the User Agreement without notice to the user, and once an account and its posts have been removed, we do not have a way of recovering them!
