Jamie Dornan Gave An Update On His Friendship With Dakota Johnson After All Those “Fifty Shades” Feud Rumors

    Dakota previously addressed claims that she and Jamie “didn’t get along” while making the Fifty Shades movies.

    The Fifty Shades movie franchise might be over, but Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson’s friendship seemingly isn’t.

    As I’m sure you’ll know, Jamie and Dakota famously starred as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film series based on the books by E. L. James.

    Fifty Shades of Grey was released in 2015, and the subsequent two movies — Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed — came out in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Although the films weren’t a hit with critics, they were a massive success at the box office, bringing in a combined total of more than $1 billion.

    In the past, Dakota has talked candidly about “disagreements” that took place on set. And though she never said anything negative about her costar, there was a lot of speculation that she and Jamie secretly didn’t get on while filming was underway.

    In 2022, Dakota directly refuted this narrative, telling Vanity Fair: “There was never a time when we didn’t get along.”

    “I know it’s weird, but he’s like a brother to me,” she said, recalling that it was essential that they were able to “trust each other and protect each other.” 


    “I love him so, so, so much. And we were really there for each other,” she added.

    And now, more than six years since the last Fifty Shades movie came out, it sounds like Jamie and Dakota are still as friendly as ever.

    On the red carpet at the Into Film Awards last week, Jamie was asked if he and his former costar still kept in touch, prompting him to reveal that they had recently been texting each other.

    “I was just texting with her a couple days ago,” he told Metro. “I think she’s London bound a wee bit over the next few weeks, so trying to see her and Chris for dinner.”

    Of course, Jamie was referring to Dakota’s partner, Chris Martin, who headlined the UK’s Glastonbury festival with Coldplay over the weekend.


    As Jamie suggested, Dakota is currently in England and was seen supporting Chris at the festival alongside his children, Apple and Moses, who he shares with Gwyneth Paltrow.

    Sounds like a Fifty Shades costar reunion could be in the cards!
